    Long VS Short Acting Insulin

    Let say that i want to use slin 3 times per day like every 4 hours, i would use humalog, but to spare the shot can i just take a 1 shot of long act slin and that will last for the next 12 hours?

    You can use either, but this would mean that you would have to watch your fat intake for the amount of time the insulin is active for. And if the insulin is active all day long, watching your fat intake may be a mission.

    If you are going to be using a long acting insulin ensure the insulin if fully out of your system by the time you go to sleep.
