Slin protocol any help?
Hi
I'm thinking about trying that slin that I read and studied so much the last months...
Some people suggsted me to follow this kind of protocol:
TRAINING DAYS: 10IU pwo (with proper dex and pro shake sure)
The shorter acting one (Nolvalog I suppose)
REST DAYS: 10IU in the morning before breakfast (the regular one)
with proper carb meals since the 6-8 acting hours
Any suggest will be really appreciated.
Thank You All

Always use a fast acting insulin such as humalog or novolog, they are much easier to use. 10IU PWO is enough, however unless you're an experienced user, I wouldn't start on 10IU straight of. Start on about 4IU and increase the dose if needed.
On your of days there is no need to take 10IU, you can get away with taking 5 - 6IU.

But in the off days I'd want to take the regular type for the fact that more time the slin is active in my body more nutrients are stored as well...is mine a wrong thought? If the slin is active for a consistent part of the day wouldn't this be better?

One advantage about fast acting insulin is that it's in and out of your system, meaning you only have to watch you fat intake for a short period of time. If you take a longer acting insulin such as humalin-R, you're supposed to watch your fat consumption for 6 - 8hrs post injection. If you're ok with that then go for it.
I still believe you should take a faster acting insulin, take advantage of the nutrients while that insulin is active and that's it for the day. Having insulin active in your system for half a day is just a bit too much IMO, but each to their own.
All the best.

OK
I'm resolved now.
Go with the faster!
