    maltodextrin for insulin

    hello to all
would it be wise to consume maltodextrin with the shake after the insulin injection so that it reduce the risk of hypo, as the maltodextrin would be released slower on a prolonged time....

    thanks for ur replies

You defenitely must consume any type of fast acting carbohydrates (simple carbs) post insulin injection so maltodextrin would be a good idea to take.

As for the release time, even though maltodextrin is considered a complex carb, malto actually acts fast which is excatly what you want PWO.

thanks for the reply gear, you are everywhere

well i have another question, well just to check
my team mates, are taking arround 6iu of insulin after morning training, they have a normal meal, and after 30 min they get the insulin and shake+dex. the thing is that we all have the actrapid which is active like 30 min after and stays in the body for upto 8 hours
the thing that they do which make me wonder is that like 30 min after the injection they go to SLEEP which i know is BAD , and after they wake up 2 hours later and they have the second training..... so this means that they had their meal pre injection of insulin, sleep within the 5hours it takes to start to go out of the system, and inspite of this thay start the second training even before the 5th hour
and im wondering how come they are still alive :P
and insulin is not fake, its from the drug store

You are best of taking insulin immidietly PWO and taking a fast acting insulin, something like humalog which has a fast on-set time and is in your system for only 4 - 5hrs post injection.

Sleeping post injection is just playing with fire. If you fall into a deep coma while you're asleep nobody would realise because it would look like you're sleeping. Please tell your friends not to repeat this practise again.

The way your friends use insulin is very complicated and dangerous. There is defenitely a more effective way to use insulin which also happens to be a safer way as well.
