insulin and eating
After you've eaten the amount of carbs required for insulin use, does the insulin remain active in your body even though you've eaten the carbs?
Does eating the carbs make the insulin activity shorter?
Or does it just remain active for the 4 or so hours?

Yes. The amount of carbohydrates you consume does not effect insulin 's life period.
No.
Depending on what type of insulin you use depends on how long its in your system for. Eg, humalog, novolog and novorapid are in your system for 4hrs post injection. Humalin-R is approx 6hrs.
