Type 1 Diabetic - Utilize Insulin

If a person is already a type 1 Diabetic and has to use Insulin already when or how can this defect be used to maximize muscle gain?
The person I speak of is quite skinny and very tall. Over 6'2.
He is also under 25 so AAS is out of the questions right now. But I was thinking since he already has to monitor his blood and take shots why not figure the best time for him to do so to max his gains, he does seem to have a hard time putting on muscle.
    Thanks to all!

You ask a really good question. I don't have any experience with insulin but I'm very curious about what people will say to your question. My brother-in-law's diabetic and doesn't workout because he says it throws his sugar level off. I don't know if true or not but I've always wondered about diabetes and body building.

If he's tall and skinny to begin with it might be more difficult to gain.
Im 5'6, i turned diabetic around 21 years old. After 3 months of going to the gym(after diabetes) i gained so much muscle mass that i got stretch marks all over.
The main thing is his eating plan and the type of insulin he's on. Is he on rapid insulin, Humulog?
Yes, working out can elevate blood sugars to an extent, all depending on how hard the workout is. but this can be prevented by taking certain things to help with it. Herbs, fish oil or hemp oil.
Tell him to bump his calories, take whey protein, eat veggies. He'll have to bump up his insulin to compensate for higher food intake. His potential to gain muscle is definitely there.

if a diabetic doesn't have insulin they'll waste away, starting with fat loss then muscle loss.. then death.
For a non diabetic that takes insulin there will certainly be mass gains. But this goes for diabetics too that want to gain weight.. all you have to do is increase insulin quantity and food intake.
