how dangerous is insulin really?
i've been reading up about insulin for months now (6+) and i think i am ready to use Humalog. i chose humalog because of its short half-life... and the way i see it is if i have a strict diet with sufficient carbs and not inject within 10 hours of sleeping i should be fine. i will also be monitoring my BG levels, have glucose tablets on hand, etc etc.
the stickes on insulin are really good to read and i have read them several times. if i know what i'm doing is it really that dangerous?Last edited by shuarma; 07-07-2010 at 03:32 AM.

Well yes, Nothing is without risk my friend..
Especially messing with the endocrine system of the body...
But hey some people die eating peanuts... So life is full of risks.. I would consider if what you are doing is worth it though and not looking for a shortcut to somewhere you can get on your own...

right. everything has risks.
but if you've researched enough, asked plenty of questions, start at a low dose and take in adequate carbs, you'll obviously reduce the risk significantly.

Why do you want insulin ? Have you tried testosterone ? Insulin is probably the most dangerous thing you could take with the shortest smallest gains. In my mind taking insulin is like sleeping with a prostitute - nothing is gained afterwards and its extremely dangerous to take it and the gains are SO short. Insulin is like something you'd do 5 days before a contest. It makes zero sense to me as to why anyone would take insulin unless they were seriously competing at a high level (and even then I wouldn't risk that). If you look into metabolic balancing you can get some certain supplements by Nutri-Spec that will raise your insulin levels. Hell, just take a potent pancreas extract and your insulin levels will spike and you will see great pumps in the gym and stamina. I bet it works even better than insulin considering all the precautions and uncertainty in dosing. Your body knows what to do with the extract.

insulin is definitely something you have to be very careful with.. start off with small doses and make sure you have some fast sugars around incase you go hypo...

I've done some reading on the subject. My take is that it is VERY risky. My understanding is that if you are not prepared to become more or less an expert on this subject matter, then you should not be pinning insulin .
I think this one should be a big red flag.

I probably wouldn't do it by myself, just in case anything happens, You'll need a slin spotter so to speak. You get it wrong and something terrible happens, I'd rather have friend there to monitor me the first few times till I got comfortable with the drug.

i understand one cannot post on here in open forums about the wonders of a drug and then downplay the risks associated with it. It is a fact that slin is no joke. But i have read much (never used) about how potent and how much it will do for you. Not critisizing, just asking bc im still doing my research on it, why do you think it doesnt provide much in the way of gains?
