    hair loss kicking in

i am 19 and i am starting to thin in the front. i am not on cycle, and this is hereditary. happened to my mothers father at about 20.

with that said... should i look to rogaine as my solution, or do you guys think a low dose of dustasteride would be the answer? given my age i am not sure what i should do!

Right now I am taking minoxidil. Says results in 3 months at the earliest. I also need get nizoral, 5% azelaic acid, and 5% spironolactone. $$ but necessary. Oh..and I'm also 19.

i feel ya bro, so did you chose those because you were advised to avoid a dht blocker, or was it more of a personal choice thing?

i have been using rogaine for at least 9 years now (i'm 35). it has definitely made a difference by slowing down the hair loss. i cant say that i have grown any hair. i spray it on twice a day. you need to use it everyday for it to keep working. it's okay to miss a day or spray once a day. i use the extra strength one.

I have read many other threads about hairless and I believe dustasteride is easier to use since it is tablet. Take one tab 0.5 mg/day and it should stop your hairless. You can run rogaine or minoxidil with it.

I would starting taking finasteride (Propecia/Proscar) now. Dutasteride is effective but little is known about long-term effects. This will slow the progression. You're also young enough to hang in there for 5-7 years while advanced, new drugs/procedures are brought to market. There are a number of new therapies in the pipeline.

i suppose you could fight it,attacking it from all angles is the best way,but having said that if your starting to lose it at such a young age you might just have to say f@@k it and shave it off.im 32 and am just starting to see thinning in front, for people who care about there hair it can be very stressful and they often spend a fortune to stop it,proberbly the most expensive is the transplant route, good luck.

I would seriously think about a transplant, i know it cost a lot of money but after its done its done, i have a blad spot on the scalp and thinning too.

I did spend 3 years taking rogaine which made a very small difference for me, i also used Nioxin shampoo and nisoral.

Nioxin is real nice and clears up the scalp year well, i never have danfruff when using Nioxin but has soon has i stop the dandruff comes back.

I am 33 and really dont have the type of face to shave all my hair, so if i do get extra cash one day its gonna be a hair transplant, you can have a payement plan too and pay per month.

Lots of people have success in keeping their hair using a combination of Nizoral, Finasteride (Proscar cut in 1/4s is cheapest), and 5% Minoxidil. That combo effectively handles DHT and stimulates growth.

I saw some frontal thinning of my own last year in my temples, and I've run that combination (albeit using topical finasteride due to the oral sides) with good success. Takes awhile to recognize the results when it comes to hair loss treatments, however. You should wait at least 6-9 months before giving up on any standard treatment. Patience is key.

I get most of my stuff at www.genhair.com. Good luck.

is it possible that some of these orals as they combat DHT production could also combat some more useful hormones like actual testosterone??
