    shoulder pain

ok i have been lifting for a couple of years now and ive started to make some big jumps in the weight im lifting for example
    bench press- 210lbs to 315lbs
dumbell bench press 100lbsdumbells to 125lbs dumbells
dumbell shoulder press 80lbsdumbells to 115lbs dumbells
now my problem is i get a sharp pain when i rotate my shoulder also when i let go of the barbell on the benchpress or anything that includes my shoulders like last night i worked my chest and i had to stop in the middle of my workout. the last thing i did was the standing cable cross for the chest and letting go of the handle gave me a sh1t load of pain.
is there any thing i can do to make this go away?
should i go get it x-rayed?
i was told to take a week off from upper body stuff so im trying that but anything would help.
    thanks guys

Rather than re-invent the wheel I think the bast advice would be to check the sticky posts at the top of this subject and read up on shoulder injuries and tendonitis. It does sound muscular (tendon included) in nature so I think the most important part now is RICE, especially if you haven't taken any time off in a while. Pain free stretching and massage are indicated as well but rest is just as important.
