Ok let me give lay down what my upper chest/shoulder has experienced.
About 6 month ago I was finishing my workout with a smith incline press. You know the one where you load the machine with plates on either side...Anyways
I wasn't doing too much and I just felt something give, not a good pain but the achy and sharp at the same time pain. I quit working out and went home and iced the shit out of my shoulder (because at the time thats what I thought it was). The next morning I woke up and I couldn't even lift my arm over my head, it was that bad. For two weeks there was the sharpest pain in my shoulder especially if I lifted my arm to touch my nose or something.
Anyways, I got over that and felt really good for the last few months. I have always focused more on incline because I feel like I get a better chest workout.
Just recently however, I was doing a few sets of 225 on the incline bench and the same exact feeling came back. Not as bad, thank goodness but it was in the same spot more or less. My upperchest/shoulder area was sore for about two days and then the pain went away.
I tested the shoulder by doing a light workout, of presses, lat raises, rear delt exercises etc. NO PAIN Whatsoever.
Thats was made me think that I tore my upper chest instead of my front delt because I felt no weakness or pain while doing the light shoulder workout.
Now here is my question. How can I continue to train chest effectively while still working the upper chest (i don't want boobs) because now I am afraid to do incline at all.
Also, there is a popping that is going on that has never really occured before. It is right where my clavicle meets my sternum area (center chest) it doesn't hurt but it is disconcerting for sure.
Any input, advice, experience thought would be appreciated!!!! Thanks a lot
