    Tanning and tattoos

For those of you who have tattoos and tan frequently have you noticed a lot of fading in that the tat?

If so, do you find it more so in certain colors?

all my tattoos are black...i kno the brighter the color, the faster it fades... when im sun burnt it looks like its fading/faded...but when my skin heals..it looks normal, just keep sun burnt moist...and cocoa butter too would help

I think they fade with time regardless of the precations you take, even though your artist will tell you it wont or he/she will hit it up again for free. They fade, its life. But the sun/tanning will definitely make it happen faster. I would just use sunblock especially on the tattooed area or cover it completely if its in a location you CAN cover. For example if you have a tatoo around your wrist wear a band or whatever over it, hell even put some tape over it.

But ya def. keep it moisturized with vit-e oil. Capsules are best, break them open and just spread it over.

just use SPF 40 sunblock. I have a full sleeve that is 12 years old and people still comment on how colorful it is. When I used to tan I put a sock (with the foot cut off) over it in addition to the sunblock.

I used to put screen on mine when I first got them, but started to forget, now I just say screw it. It's been 4 years, and they still look new. There is some bright green in the wrist band that is still bright as hell.

They do fade, but mine hasn't. Tanned for three years since I got mine, still looks fine.

SPF 50 on yer tat keeps her gleaming forever, never tan or go in the sun without covering your art-would you leave the mona lisa out in the sun?

I have a interior bicep tattoo that I cover with an adhesive bandage when I use the booth. It has lots of color and people are always asking me if it's new. It's not, its just in a spot that doesn't get much sun and I cover it when I tan on purpose.
