Topical Agents to Prevent Hair Loss

I'm curious if anyone has had any success with topical agents to prevent hair loss. I know Rogaine came out with a new foam recently, http://www.rogaine.com/Mens/?ID=1700. Has anyone had any success using and shampoos or topical foams?

Rogain works to promote hair growth...however, Im not sure how permanent it is after you stop using it.

Nizoral is a topical anti dandruff shampoo that blocks DHT in the scalp. This is also effective. This doesn't really promote new growth, but can help stop the loss (also your only choice when using highly androgenic compounds).

I am using a anti DHT shampoo set called Nioxin and it is working well, even after a few days. Not sure if the active ingredient is the same as Nizoral, but its supposed to work via the same mechanism.

Awesome, yah I'm actually 21 so my hari is still nice and thick right now ha, I was thinking about using like a shampoo or foam to prevent any loss or thinning, do the shampoos have the same side effects as the orals? Like decreased libido and so forth?

Rogaine did a real number on my scalp. Do not buy in bulk until you try it.

Nothing I have used has worked really. All the topicals are for treatment on the back of the head or the middle. My hairloss is from my hairline and I havent really found anything that has worked well.
