    is this a tear or strain?

    so i got myself into an arm wrestling comp.. i found a guy who was a challenge and we were goin at it for like 5 min all out man. i used everylast bit of my power . then it was really bad everytime i used it..my forearm and the bicep and outsside of bicep and in my elbow all hurt i cant even bench anymore. then it happend again where i over did it a few weeks later tryin to get back up to wieght!. now i cant even sleep at night the pain is so bad! i know u guys aint all drs but from ur expierience what do u think it is? and how should i fix it?

    Is there any bruising or redness on it mate?

    Do this test...straighten your arm infront of you with your palm facing upwards...now first of all bend your forearm to 90 degrees (so your using the bicep tendon and forearm is now vertical)...does this hurt?

    Then tense your bicep, see if it hurts...you might want to push slightly on the tendon (at the elbow joint in the fold of your arm) when you are tensing your bicep, if you feel that the tendon is hurting a lot then you have damaged it.

    Also with your arm straight infront of you palm facing forward, try to supinate your wrist, turn it clockwise direction as the bicep is used to do this...you can push your bicep tendon slightly (not too hard) whilst doing this to see if you feel any pain in it.

    Either way, take at least 2 weeks off training upper body. If there is bruising or pain in the tendon when you squeeze it, you must see a doctor as you either have a tear or a strain.

    You will know if your torn your bicep because you wouldve been in v bad pain, your bicep wouldve popped up, it would have coiled up towards your shoulder and there wouldve been lots of bruising, chances are you havent done this, but you might have a strain...just REST FOR 2 WEEKS MINIMUM.

    so i tried it no pain but if i went to the gym and then tried it i would be in pain. the other night i when i tried getting back up to weight i hurt it so bad i had to drug myself to sleep! i was curled up in a ball almost cryin dude. and im the type of guy who loves pain (i do MMA) but the next day it was fine..no bruiseing at all so far. im fine right now but if i add weight im screwed..ill take ur advice and take off upper body for 2 weeks. i been doin legs alot lately because of this. thanks for ur time bro!

    Been there, I went away with a group of 15 guys, and of course after drinking we have an arm wrestling comp. ****ed me up for a good month and half. To this day I will not arm wrestle even kids! good luck, rest it !
