    acne/accutane and my derm

Hope someone can help me out. So I've been on two antibiotics for acne - bactrim and minocycline for 1 and 2 months consecutively. It seems like the only benefit i got was within the first week or two and this weeks its been getting worse so i call my derm about accutane and he says he wont even consider accutane until atleast six months treatment.

Personally i think i need accutane. My acne is cystic (red and inflamed) but no whiteheads and pseudo-blackheads on my back anymore. It seems like a lot of the bacteria is gone but the pores just dont seem to heal.

My question to you all is should i just continue the minocycline and give it time. Also get pantothenic acid or buy accutane online. I also plan on calling another derm but fear the same response is the same. Help a brother out! thanks

just lie to the derm say you have been trying it for 5 months.

accutane is great youll hear some horror stories.

the stuff works but the sides are real it really does dry your skin, lips, and nose out.

also minocycline and tetracycline inhibit protein synthesis.

google it and there is an article dave plaumbo recommended accutane saying that it inhibits protein synthesis.

make sure u get it form a licensed derm and have the bloodwork done while you use it.

Fukk Accutane, shit dried my joints out so bad I couldn't lift. Got depressed too.

Use dish soap in the shower on your chest/back/shoulders. Get a spray bottle and put 90% rubbing alcohol in it, spray it on 2x/day. Use 2% Benzoyl peroxide on top of it 2x/day (acne.org has cheap BP.) Also go tanning 2x/week.

Worked amazingly for me. Just had to dry the shit out of my skin. I know you'll get people that say "don't do that, itll just increase oil production" but it worked for me.. after like a week. Still clear.

hey jacked man dont use minocycline or tetracycline they inhibit protein synthesis.

as far as stretch marks accutane can help.

man if you want just pm ill show the stuff that shows how minocycline inhibits protein synthesis.

it has to do with the same way minocycline stops new acne lesions from forming would be bad for muscle gain. dave palumbo also wrote an article on it.

k il find the stuff from dave palumbo but someone should sticky this.

you guys can also google it.

i dont know that much about it but AandF i beleive i know minocycline and tetracycline are from the same family and very similar.

i never believed in antibiotics for acne. if you look up reasons acne is caused it doesnt solve alot of the problems. they dont work. annoying. and i felt worse being on medicine that i didnt see working. depression and this drug are strange never been proven and theres to many reasons and depression is also another thing vary common with teens (main age group using accutane) and depression is a huge debate more phsycological/chemical, etc.

And lol hes right it does dry your joints out. dry skin to but it works. i think the most appealing thing i heard was how many took it for 4-6 months w/e and never had it come back. even search this forum and many guys who used the stuff never had acne come back bad (give or take a couple pimples) on various cycles.

Come on look at these young kids like trey brewer and centopani you would think these guys would be covered in acne. i am sure considerable amount of body builders might have used this stuff in their younger days to get rid of it.

accutane is great.. I have been on it 4 months, and personally have not had any sides besides dried lips/skin, but it is manageable.. I am on 40smg twice a day, so 80mg a day.. I went for years just using topicals and antibiotics because I couldnt find a derm that would put me on accutane.. But now that I did I am thrilled at the results.. I didnt get any depression or the other sides that some people get

    heh

Wow I know what its like to be in your shoes, I had a bad acne problem, One derm. kept giving me the same stuff like topical creams, so I made an appt. with his assistant and he put me on it for several months. Even though its hard on the liver and your acne gets worse before it gets better, it works awesome. I was on 120mg a day, and when my acne went away, the running water down my cheeks in the shower felt amazing. Get on it and try to get a prescription from the Dr. cause getting it from other sources will drain your pocket for just weeks supplies and you'll need it for months.

Acne is the most common skin disease. People of all races and ages get acne. But it is most common in teenagers and young adults. An estimated 80 percent of all people between the ages of 11 and 30 have acne outbreaks at some point. Some people in their forties and fifties still get acne. Acne is a skin condition that occurs due to the overproduction of oil by the oil glands of the skin. The oil that normally lubricates the skin gets trapped in blocked oil ducts and results in what we know as pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads on the surface of skin. Sometimes it also includes deeper skin lesions that are called cysts.

What age are you bud? I did two courses between the ages of 15-17 and it cleared my acne up (was cystic like yours painful and ugly as f@ck) BUT , this is a very big BUT, side effects are pretty intense, my ones were nose bleeds, stupidly fragile skin (i had to stop playing rugby due to it), slight depression and mood swings, aching back when i would forst lay down in bed at night it would last about 5 mins then go but was painful, stupidly dry lips, AND this is a very controversial statement but i personally believe accutane messed my growth up, im 5'10-11'' (depends on time o day ha) but my dad is 6'3'' and i personally believe i would have been taller, but i'll never do. My opinion accutane is absoloute last resort, it is essentially a poison so try everything else before you do it.

Mega dose powdered B5 at 10 grams a day. Works as good as Accutane with few of the sides. Make sure it is powdered and not time released and take a B-100 while on it and extra Biotin

    Acne

Acne - even general skin health - is a serious subject one that currently is riddled with misinformation. Too often the fact the most products do not contain ingredients that help skin issues or do not contain ingredients in effective quantities - 99% of today's skincare products are ineffective for providing skin proper nutrition. If you feed your body a junk food diet what happens - you feel dull and lifeless.
