    Lower back injury

    Doc sust.
I am 31 and I usually am well involved in lots of different physical sports. I have suffered from a lower back issue for some years now which I recently pulled again. This time it has stopped me from exercising fully for 1 year now. I was on strong painkillers for 7mths and I attended physio and a pilates class a few months ago, which kind of helped. It is a lot less painful now but rather sore at times and stiff. I want to start exercising again in order to strengthen my abs and lower back. I know I must start gently at first However, as before I always seem to develop other injuries or aggrevate the same injury. Is there a specific type, make or brand of steroid that you can recommend to assist in my recovery, preferably not by needle?
There are so many to choose from, HELP?

why don't you try reverse hyper extensions. This is a miracle exercise that helps rebuild and strengthens up your lower back.

How are the reverse hypers compared to regular hypers? There isn't a gym in my area that has a reverse hyper machine.

Time off is what helped mine, listen to your body as well... My first week back from my injury I felt moderate pain deadlifting 135lbs LMAO.. oddly enough 1 set of 225 wasnt as bad.
Just last week I skipped out on deadlifts because my lower back was slightly sore it had to be heavy cleans a day or two earlier.. I've heard it's not good to DL every week, if that's somethiung your doing?

I'm gonna try the hyperextension and reverese ones myself..

Don't laugh at me but maybe Yoga? I haven't tried it but it sounds like it could help

moreguns is onto something....cause yoga is just stretching.....and the babes on Namaste Yoga make you want to get a little mat even if the stretching was not so damned good for you....

Can cortisone be taken in any other way than injection?

have used cortisone as a topical for poison oak ....but for back, shoulder and neck pain it has always been injected....in the past, Drs just aimed and injected....now they used radiology....you are immobilized....your Dr is watching a TV monitor... the needle has a local which is injected first; they pause for it to take effect and then inject a dye into the area; once the dye shows up it highlights the nerve and then the Doc injects the cortisone.....you see, cortisone burns like fire...now they use the local and you don't even know the cortisone is going in.....the TV monitor/dye allows the doc to hit his target exactly....kind of like smart bombs vs carpet bombs.
