mulitple Cortisone injections
I've done 2 lots of seperate injuries in the past 14 months, all of which are persistant and stubourn.
the first was my shoulder(s), mostly just inflammation around the rotar cuff, plus a classic "stiff shoulder".the pain isn't terrible, but enough to stop me from working out
the other injury was to my elbow, according to my phsio its mostly tendonditis, i think, or some kind of inflamation around the bersa (spelling?). Either way both my elbows are not in terrible pain, but enough to stop me from working out
ive also had rhinoplasty, and will be having a second (followed by a 3rd) cortisone injection on my nose
my question's are:
-Is the cortisones effect totally localised? I understand multiple shots can begin to eat away at cartlidge, bone, muscle, but is this only assuming you treat the exact same area?
-After 2-4 months of my cortisone injections for my shoulder and elbow injuries (ill be getting them within a week), i want to hit the juice to get back the gains i lost while recovering. Will the anabolic affects of the steroid be neatraulised by the catabolic affects of the cortisone?
-If the cortisone kills the pain, but doesn't actually fix the injury, could i srsly **** myself up by training an injured area as im totally oblivous to the warning signs of the pain?

you will find a lot of resistance to the use of cortisone....my college trainer for instance thought it was a criminal act....however, i have had at least 20 injections in my lower back (which is virtually pain free now); three series of three injections in my neck over a two year period....have had two sets of three injections in my shoulder....eventually had titanium plates between C6-C7....the surgeon for my shoulder said he could NOT guarantee that my shoulder would heal from surgery because the cortisone shots had diminished the ability of the area to heal....he was adamant that no matter how good a surgeon he was he still had serious doubts that my body could heal itself....my impression from his explanation was that it was the repeated application to that area...not the compilation in my body that inhibited the body's response.....at 55, i can tell you that at various times in my life the decision was simply how limited did i want my actions to be.....and the ability of cortisone to increase that activity was evident with each usage.....having buried at least 30 M8s i learned to take today as the only thing i had....am not recommending cortisone as a remedy as i never have thought long term....you have to decide....
