Thread: Slight herniation from C4 to C6 and muscle inflamation.

Slight herniation from C4 to C6 and muscle inflamation.

As per the 3rd doctor I saw I have a slight herniation from C4 to C7, no pinched nerve. This herniation has significantly weakened the surrounding muscles and has forced other muscles to compensate for the weakness. This muscle compensation has lead to lower back pain and neck pain. The pain comes in intervals, I can go 6 months without any kind of pain what so ever but if I pick something up the wrong way I am in pain for 2 to 3 months, I have been dealing with this for 3 years. During the pain periods I can't stand for long periods of time and I obviously can't go to the gym. I have come to the conclusion that the key to correcting this long term problem of mine is to strengthen this weak muscles that are causing the my other muscles to compensate. I have gone through 3 PT's to help me correct this problem but these weak muscles limit my motion and training ability, I can't reach behind me and I can't lift something above my head while standing. Is there anything I can take to help me increase the muscle strength of the weak muscles in my upper back that will cut some body fat at the same time. I am looking to lean down so that I don't add any addition stress to my back.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The pain periods are caused by muscle inflamation.

Had c6-c7 fused after getting rear ended in 2002. Fixed the problem right up with 100% recovery.

YOu need to get yourself to a good sport medecin clinic, been having pains for 8 years going to the wrong places all the time, last one was chiropratic a year and a half.

I asked that moron for an MRI took eveything for him to send me, there they found 2 discopathy L4L5 and L5S1 no degeneration no bulging, the chiro said he was the only one that could treat me and was very mad when i decided to go to sport medecin.

On April 18 i met the sport doctor for an evaluation then he refered me to sport physio, i did 2 sessions with her then i was refered to a personal trainer to push my rehab exercises farther.

I am working on strenghtening my weak muscles has well lower back pelvic region and upper back.

They will not lie to you and tell you that you will be better in one month, it can take some time to get everything working good again.

At least for me my pelvic is now staying in is place and doesnt need to be realigned anymore.

I've been there bro. I had what sounds like the same herniation at c3 and c4 after getting rear ended in 1999. It was hell. A neck injury involves so much more than the neck. I had constant pain in my neck, traps, left shoulder, left lat, and mid back. I was in the hmo maze and saw numorous chiros, sports injury docs, pain treatment clinics, etc. The injections of depo-medrol in the facet between the nerves connecting c3 and c4 helped, but just like all cort injections, it was temporary. Not to mention I swelled up like Fred Flintstone with Cushingoid Syndrome. Gained like 30 pounds, it sucked. I finally found a doctor that was using an experimental treatment called nerve denervation. It's where they perform the proceedure using floroscopy (like a high def mri on a tv screen) and he basically severed the nerves between the facet that were giving me problems. It was painless (you would think lasering a nerve would be painful) and the healing process was slow, but it really helped. I still have some of the problems like pinched nerves in my upper mid-back, but it's alot better. Hope this helps bro.
