extreme stiff neck: need your help

over the past three nights my neck is killing. i just got some aspercreme don't know if it will help reduce the stiffness. basically I can't turn my head left-0r-right without turning my whole body. the pain is horrible if I force to do it. Cause for the stiffness i believe improper workout form: bench, squats, u name it. Or most probably I went beyond my weight limit and it strained the heck of my neck muscle. Any thoughts and advise will be appreciated. thanks

I did thanks. I was diagnoised with torticolis, a fancy name for sprained neck muscle. I feel much better but will not hit the gym until next week.

Was that docs orders? I get really bad kinks someitmes as well when I do heavy shrugs. So laying low for a day or two is all they prescribe?
