I think you're referring to folliculitis, which is an infection of the hair follicles.

In most cases, if you were to go to a doctor or derma, they'll recommend topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment (2%), and tell you to stop shaving for 5-10 days. It depends on how bad it is.

I used to get it bad around my neck area because my beard grows in so many different directions there. If you shave against the grain of your natural hair growth direction, like shaving UP your cheeks instead of DOWN, it can aid to the start of new infections and prolong any existing ones. Just be logical when shaving and get some of that cream from CVS, or ask your doc for a script tube of neomycin.

^ Yes this way it shuts pores and keeps the area from getting inflamed. I know it sounds weird but It works for me....I even do it for my face

Go to your doc and ask fro a cream containing clyindamycin and hydrocortizone. Apply to face and neck after shaving. I have been using it for years and have not had any bouts of folliculitis or ***** bumps.

theres a product called tend skin. i use it. its good. you put it on after shaving with a cotton ball. dont think its in stores but is online. a little expensive but the bottle does last a long time. just make sure you squeeze it onto a cotton ball so you dont waste any.
