    Wax, Shave or Nair?

I searched through a couple hundred threads/post and didt really see much.

    What do you prefer?

    Wax and why?
    Nair and why?
    shaving why?
    Other methods.

I found this that looks interesting (stolen from another thread)

At http://www.pioneerthinking.com/bodysugaring.html someone put up a recipe for "sugaring." It's like Nads, but it's lots cheaper, just as effective, and you make it yourself. Full instructions are there . . .

I made a batch a while back, and it does take a bit of finesse to get the consistency just right, but it can be done. The resulting product seemed to work ok, and it didn't tear off a layer of skin like the hot wax did (on my eyebrows -- ouch).

Anyway, here's what they say--seems like it's worth a try:

    Body Sugaring

Here's a recipe a friend gave me for that new aussie nads product you can make this at home for a lot cheaper.

Nads costs 30 bucks which is a lot of money for simple ingredients. I looked at nads.com to look at their ingredients. They were all natural so those ingredients are very cheap.

This process is called sugaring. Due to a bit of research I found out this isn't exactly a new found invention. This has been actually used in India for many years as well as stringing which is another story. This is a bit painful no matter how much the commercial makes it look so watch out if you hate pain. But after awhile, it will make your hair growth less thick and less frequent. If you hold your skin taut and rip it out quick, it is less painful.

    Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
Half a lemon for the juice
    1/4 cup honey
A little bit of Molasses if you have any like a drizzle
Cornstarch (to powder with for tautness making it more effective)
Something to spread the mixture with like a tongue depressor, popsicle stick, cheese spreader or spatula.
Cotton fabric (any old thing you can find or buy some strips at a store)

Mix lemon, sugar, and honey in a bowl. Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, until it bubbles into a smooth consistency. I find this a lot simpler then turning on the stove, but it would be safer if you watched over the heat on the stove. If you use the stove use LOW heat. Now move away from the mixture and go do something while it cools a little down so you can touch it safely. A little bit warmer though is better though to use. Microwave it for 20 seconds if you find the need to. The NADS commercial said re heating isn’t necessary, but it’s no big deal doing so and I find it is necessary as all sugaring products do need just a little heating.

Make sure your legs or where ever you wish to place it is clean and dry. Then dust area with cornstarch so it’s more effective as it draws out oil. Spread a thin layer on your leg. Cover with a strip of fabric, and rubbing the strip the opposite way of hair growth, about 3 times.

Grab the fabric end and pull it off very quickly against the direction of the hair growth or the other way if you wish. It will hurt, but after awhile it’s a lot less painful. I’m sure you’re strong enough to withstand pain. Reheat the mix if it gets too hard to spread. This stores for a long time. I just use a vitamin E face cream container that’s plastic since that’s fairly big which costs only a buck at the dollar store. Just make sure it's clean and oil free. You could also use a glass jar as well.

I say shaving it works great, I just used Nair for Men on my forearms and coated that **** on and 15 minutes later only got about 60% of the hair off so I had to just shave it off.

Plus Nair smells like wet dog hair.

From what I read, waxing doesn't make hair grow back slower or thinner or whatever. The only reason it might seem that way is because it just takes a bit longer to grow out of the skin because of pulling the root of the hair out too. I've done all of them and I say shaving.

OK but the problem is what if you have normal body hair? I dont have any on my back but I do on the chest, down the center of stomach, legs, arms and small amount on butt. How long do you spend shaving??? LOL

I think the first wax job would take HOURS and hurt like a SOB

When I started I shaved every second day and it only takes a few minutes, I shaved forearms, chest, pubes and balls. I did it dry as well, your skin toughens up after a while.

I just shave the chest and arms once a week. I waxed my forearms once and they did feel pretty smooth for awhile.

That body groomer works like a charm. I can't use a razr or wax because i'll break out. No matter what it happens and looks awful. I shower before the shave or wax and miliions of little bumps pop up and stick around for about a week or more. Not worth it to me.
