    Hurt neck doing shrugs

So I was at the gym today and doing my last set of dumbell shrugs. With only a couple reps left I tweaked my neck just the slightest and felt it right away. I couldn't move it at all and now 9 hours later the slightest move I make with my body my neck is in excruciating pain. Anyone else ever experience this? Is there anything to do to make it better besides aspirin and a heat pack?

I've had minor pains in doing shrugs... nothing ever that serious...... not much you can really do I dont think.... Get your girl to rub it down good for you..... is it like kind of when you get a stiff neck? and its hard to turn? or is it just when you turn you get a pain? could have pulled something wrong way.

could be a pinched nerve or a pulled muscle, DO NOT try to crack your neck with a pulled muscle, you will thank me. Ibuprofen and get the muscle warmed up to speed recovery, you want to loosen it up and pump oxygen through it. If you can, take a long walk, ramping up the intensity but stopping BEFORE you feel any pain.

I did the same thing several months ago. Try going to a Chiropractor WITHOUT taking any meds as not to mask/dull the pain. They should be able to tell you if you pinched a nerve or need to be adjusted.

I took my stiff neck to a chiropractor and when he showed me the x-ray I had displaced a rib near my scapula. Dang, I didn't think I was going too heavy. I got a 30 minute massage and an adjustment and in a couple of days I was 100%.
