Sharp pain in posterior deltoid area

About 2 months I was doing military press and got a sharp pain in my posterior deltoid-trap area. At the time it wasnt too bad, but the following day it wsa very sore. I couldnt even push ups without it hurting too much.

At the moment the exercises and motions that cause pain are lateral raises, any kind of benching or pressing move and push ups. Its definitely gotten better over the last 2 months, but it still hurts quite alot on the above mentioned exercises, and its always localised to my posterior deltoid area.

Has anyone experienced this before, or have some idea of what it is or what I could do to help it recover a bit faster. Im laying off weights of course, but the boredom and frustration of having my routine wrecked and knowing im losing the gains Ive worked to get by being out of the gym is really getting to me now.

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I had the EXACT same injury. I would warm up really well then bench like crazy 'cause I knew I would be lame the next day. Stupid, now that I think about it. i just wanted to get a good workout in before my arm got numb. I found out that I had a small tear in the infraspinatus rotator cuff. I got a coterzone shot and it was just what I needed. It took about six months but it healed. If you're injured and you're working out it'll take a LONG time to heal. You might ask your doctor what he thinks about a coterzone shot.

yup, I got the same thing going now. I stopped lifting for 2 months it got better but not all the way then it got worse again.
I also got the cortisone shots, one in front, one in rear. They helped but only slightly and a short time.
Best thing I have done so far is 2 things. I only lift light now and I started going in for DEEP tissue massage on the shoulders. OMG does that hurt when they are doing it but I could feel the difference right away. It's a lot better after only 2 weeks, it was better after one visit but now the healing is slow but steady.

I waited to long though, I also had my thumb and 2 finger go numb. Now only my thumb is partially numb.
