    pre-acl surgery workouts?

Hey there im currently 2 and a half weeks away from an acl reconstruction in my right knee. I am currently doing a 5 day split that looks like this:

    Monday - Back
    Tues - Chest
    Wed - Legs
    Thurs - Shoulders
    Friday - Power Clean complex's

i am currently posting pb's for squat and leg press and i dont want to lose too much

anyway i was wondering if there is any benifit in over training my legs before going in for surgery? is it unreasonable to squat 3 days in a row before surgery? as i will be unable to work on my legs for some time. also if three days is to much how much is appropriate over training?

or is this all just counter productive? and I should grin and bare the losses?

any help knowledge or insight would be appreciated

I work in orthopaedics so the answer i give will be coming straight from a Physicians assistant/Bodybuilder! Training 3 straight days up until the surgery will do 0 good you will loose quad size! It will take several weeks of rehab and time to get the size back.I do not suggest you try and destroy your legs before surgery, think about it ,why bust your ass to make your leg grow when I guarentee it will shrink! Make sense?? Fix your injury, listen to the doc, then once you are cleared to resume working out do so.Any other answer is retarded. Good luck with the surgery i suggest you use the down time in your advantage, study more about nutrition and gear!!

Not at all! By the muscle going into atrophy you will loose strength also! just let everything heal and when its time to continue, then continue. But until then rest and let things heal properly...chris

hey dude i know what your going through, i got my acl done and cleaned out torn menicus on my right knee. yeh the guy above is right. u will abit of size but its not to worry, u will prob be given exercises to do post op like tensing of your quadriceps and relaxing ect and repeated 20 or so times. u gota do these or u will loose quad size. its a waste to overtrain ur legs now but the night before my surgery i said f*ck this and did 300 pound squats cos i was going under the knife in liek 10 hrs haha
