    post kidney transplant advice?

I just got the go ahead for a kidney donation. I know the doctors said I am going to be recovering for about a month. However, I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this. Or has tips or ideas of what to do during the time before, during, and after the surgery.

I recently started to get really serious about training and I am not sure how i am going to keep motivated or to keep my gains during this period.

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

    hi
i know this is an old post but ill answer it.
before surgery i got as fit as possible.
wasnt to bothered about weight ,im 5 ,10" and weigh 85kgs. i run between 8-10 bodyfat year round.
i was doing my weights as usual 5 days a week,4 hrs intensive circuit training cardio,4 hrs thai boxing ,a 10km run and about 60 miles at pace on my bike a week.
its probably the fittest ive been.
i was told the fitter going in ,the quicker the recovery.
the op went well and i was released 2 days after .
you will need lots of rest.
even walking a flight of 15 steps will be unbelievably hard.i would have to go and sleep after walking up and down stairs.
you do sleep alot for about a week.
after 2 weeks i felt really good
after 4 weeks i felt almost as good as before.
this was not good as i started training at this point.i did a 10km run not too far off my usual pace ,i felt good ,but my wound opened a bit.which probably set my recovery back a couple of weeks.
so i started again at the 6 week point.
as far as weights went,i didnt lose much strength at all really.i gained a bit of fat,not much though as my diet was pretty good .
my stamina was hit big time.near the end of a weights session,i would be very weak.but i tried to not worry to much about it and go for strict form.
at about 12 weeks after the op i was doing everything i was doing before at about the same level ,with exception of the thai boxing.i left this until 16 weeks after op to be on the safe side.
im now 7 months after op and better than before.
my diet is better,my training is better.
maybe because ive done a lot of research and have a better knowledge than before?
as far as steriods go,i stay away from orals, and trem.
but i was told by a doc that i would be ok on light to mild injectables like sustanon250 and test enanthate .1-2 amps a week.
