Fractured L5 Need help with PT

Ok so back in december i fractured my L5 vertebrae while deadlifting. It eventually started getting better just by kinda taking it easy, there wasnt much i could do the doctor said, but then in feb/march i fractured it again or just kept it from healing because it got alot worse. I had an MRI and everything and i got a back brace which helped alot at first, but then quit helping so much for some reason and i eventually stopped wearing it all together. I broke some ribs while going down a 70 degree hill it was steep and i was going along and a tree broke and i fell into another tree breaking 3 ribs.
This made it really painful so i stopped wearing the brace since it pushed on my ribs. But basically my back got better until i helped move some stuff and it got worse. the doctor told me to start training the muscles as best i could without hurting it worse so i can strengthen that area back up. almost all my muscle has faded in the area.

So basically what are some good exercises for that area of my back that dont involve going too heavy so i dont hurt it any worse but so i can start strengthening the area?

    Thanks

Read the post above this one or below in regards to lower back. It has some good advice in it also.

I feel your pain, literally. I have had the 3 broken ribs also. lol
