    severe trap pull..HELP

I pulled a trap muscle while doing pull overs. I rested three days and the pain started to subside. I went and did some heavy squats which I thought would not effect my traps and have been in severe pain for three days. I mean the pain is shooting down from my upper neck to the back of my shoulder. No position is comfortable. Today is the 4th day since I reinjureded it. It does not seen to be getting better. I applied heat last night ( the 3rd day after pull). Today it feels almost worse. Has anyone pulled a trap or neck muscle this severely?? This is second only to pinched nerve pain. No position accept lying flat on my back relieves the pain. ANYONE have a trap pull this bad?? If so what the he!! did you do to resolve it? Thanks

I just pulled my trap 10 minutes ago doing bent over laterals with a 10lb plate! Lol. Not as severe as yours though, I just put icy hot and now its much better. IMO I would completely stop training if I was you. Just rest

    pulled muscles

I guess this what we, or I get for not stretching. Hey bass, do you fish? I know this off the subcect. Or is it bass as in instument? I am an outdoor writer with well over 250 published fishing articles. Today is the 5th day since the major pain in my trap. I can finally stand fully up straight and I am not totally bed riidden. I appreciate the feed back from everyone, and I know I need a few more days at least to heal. It just doubly sucks when you start another cycle and get hammered with an injury.

I jacked mine processing deer of all things. (We do about 100 a day in dec) couldn't turn my neck, lift my arm. Advil and time is all that worked for me. Took a solid month. Good luck

    Motrin 800 .
    Muscle relaxer of sorts .
    Heating pad .
Sometimes neck stretches help . Get a towel , hold between hands and put up in air in front of forehead. Push head forward .
Put towel behind head and hold , push head backwards .
Put palm on side of head and push that direction . Switch sides .

Make appointment with physical therapist or masseuse . Concentrate on problematic area .

    Good luck

I hate to dig this up again, but I hope that it may help someone in the future. A few weeks ago I posted about a trap pull. Well here I sit after a few chiro visits with what turns out to be some kind of disc problem. The pain spread from my neck area to my shoulder. Just one shoulder. When I turn my head it started shooting pain to m shoulder and then the pain just stayed persistant. I have an appointment next week with a neck specialist. This all came about from squats. I have squated heavier weight than what I was using , but something just went wrong. Anyways, I just wanted to post this in case someone ever falls victim to the same injury.
