    Osgood schlatters disease

Anyone else have this/familiar with it? I have it in my right knee. I first got it when I was about 12-13, doctor said to stop wrestling and doing sports for a year and it would heal back and my bones would fuse back with the tendon/ligament not sure which one it is. But it didn't after a year. Well it's well over a decade and I still have it. It uses o be so painful it was comparable to a nut shot. Nowadays its not as bad but I still have the protrusion. It gets a little sore after vigorous use, but nothing anywhere debilitating. It's just noticeable. Anybody successfully gotten 100% over it?

I had the same diagnosis around the same age you mention...played catcher in high school and had achey knees...changed positions and never really put any stress on the knees again and had very lil problems if any as the doc stated WOULD happen.(i grow out of it)...about 30 years later I tried picking up tennis at age 42 and now live with daily knee pain but 30 years all good i'd say

yeah i have it in both knees! i used to do LOADS of biking when i was younger and when i was 12 while i was running i felt my right knee just click and i couldnt bend it! unfortunately it was about 4 days before i joined 2nd/senior school and my mother thought that i was making my knee problem up because i didnt want to go to "big school". after 2 days of me laying on the sofa and limping about she called my so-called bluff and took me to the hospital. there i was diagnosed with have osgood-schlatters disease in my right knee and had to have a full leg cast put on. unfortunately while having my right leg in a cast and over compensations on my left i developed it in my left knee! JACKPOT! i played sports all thru school but was sometimes crippled for a few days after and sometimes had to pick and choose my games!
the doctors said that i would grow out of the condition, but my knees are still incredabily fragile and i'm now 28 so think that advice was wrong! i 've recently started running again for cardio and i can feel my knees are not 100% up to the task. so i thought i'd seek advice from the guys on here, hence arriving at your thread.

do you take anything for your knees? i'm taking a load of joint and soft tissue stuff but i think i'm going to need something more suitable to the conditon, rather than genral health supplements.
