Bicep Repair and Rotator Cuff a year after. Feels Stiff and weak

I had Bicep tendon repair surgery almost a year ago with rotator cuff repair as well. I did PT for about 3 to 4 months with a trainer and i have been doing it on my own since. So i have been doing acutal PT for about 5 months so far. And i was able to get my weight back up and my bench is back at 255, legs are good, and my bicep is still kind of weak but its comming back as well.

But my shoulder feels stiff and while trying to do dumbbell press it feels like its hanging on by a string right below the end of my deltoid. If i put my elbow to my side and extend my hand outwards away from me i can feel it pop and crackle but no pain. When i am benching it feels fragile and i am worried that it is going to blow out on me.

I have been doing cable external rotations, 90-Degree Dumbbell External Rotation, and anything else i can. Do i need more time to heal, do i need to do more, or is something still wrong?

hey, i cant really help you with your shoulder (im sure other people will post) but

I too tore my bicep tendon back in march and it still isnt near recovered yet. I didnt think it was a serious injury to i kept lifting on it for a month. I did not get surgery . As of right now i am currently on 3 months rest which includes 1 month of pt.
May i ask how you tore it?
Why did you choose to have surgery?
and was there any burising or swelling when you tore it?

It's been over two years since I had rc/slap tear surgery. My shoulder still pops and cracks all the time, especially during overhead bb presses. Just get used to it, as long as there is no pain. Sometimes my shoulder still feels like it will pop out at certain positions, I just deal with it. I know this probably didn't help, but your not alone here.

You might want to go get it checked out before it snaps and your left with a popeye bicep. I was doing dumbbell shoulder press w 75 and was hungover and doing bad form. The dumbbell went back behind my head a bit and apparently there is some tendon that cover the top part of the bicep where it connects to the shoulder. And that poped off which let my bicep tendon go where ever it wanted. The docs said that tendon that covers the bicep couldnt be repaired so they would have to do what they did. They said if i left it like that eventually it would wear down and snap off. there wasnt any brusing or swelling just a popping.

I have plenty range of motion, its good. I don't have pain, which is really good. I ripped my slap tendon ( which is the one that connects your bicep to the delt) almost in half, went on with my business and 6 months later my rota cuff was trashed. What I am saying is it will pop, tendons and ligs have been reattached with SS anchors bro, your shit is really never gonna be 100% again. I think you said your like 5 months out, if your doing anything overhead you will pay the price of another surgery.
DON'T GO HEAVY on any thing that involves that shoulder 5 months out, my doc told me it takes a solid 18 months to fully heal. You should be thinking mobility, mobility, mobility. Not I'm gonna put 225 on my chest and see what happens. My doc also told me, after about seven months, mobility wise, you don't really get much more. So get all you can while you are still heals g in that window of 7 months. Good luck

thanks solo. i tore mine on flat bench (also hungover). I look at pictures online of a torn bicep and they all look dismantled with massive burising. Mine did not bruise and the shape is a little different. I only felt a pop followed by a sharp pain.

Im goona get it checked out by a real doctor in the coming weeks, wish i did it sooner. May i ask if you had a MRI or a ultra sound to see how extensive the damage was?

Mine didnt bruise either it just popped with some pain. I kept working out on for a few days after it but i knew something was messed up and thats when i went to the doc. I got an MRI and they said that if they didnt fix my bicep it would rub agaisnt the bone and eventually snap. I dont remember what they said about my RC but i dont think it was as bad as my bicep. But im having more problems with my RC than with my bicep. My bicep seems almost back to normal w/o pain or anything.
