    Knee hurts

Supp people.. I just have a quick question.About 4 weeks ago I started doing cardio because I'm cutting. My cardio is either on the bike or going for a jog, but when I start jogging my knees start to hurt until they are warmed up.Is this normal? I jog for about 40mins high intensity or moderate...Any thoughts welcome

Yes, it is normal, and the older you get, the more normal it becomes.

    here are some thoughts:

Run on soft surfaces (grass at the park) instead of hard surfaces - careful don't step in a gopher hole and break your foot!
    msm - 5 grams a day forever........
msm will help lubricate your joints and improve collegen synthesis

and then maybe you should warm up on the bike before you go jogging?

    Hope this helps!

My knees hurt when I run because I have stage III condromalasia. Basically, that means the cartiliage underneath my kneecap is getting worn away. Running is a high impact exercise, and it's possible that something similar could be happening to you (although it's equally possibly that it isn't). I try to avoid running and do low impact exercises instead, such as biking, swimming, and elliptical. You only get one pair of knees.

I switched to riding bike and the pain is completely gone. Also it did wonders for my quad development.

glad to hear it. You might have something similar to what I have then. Quad development will reduce condromalasia pain, because the quads pull the kneecap upwards, which makes it so the cartilage under the kneecap rubs less.

Might sound obvious, but running (jogging) technique could be the issue, it was for me.

Was a bit heavy footed, landing too much with the heel rather than the middle/balls of your foot.

Research, pair of vibram five fingers, and practice with proper technique solved a lot of running pains I had.
Before the change, 10 to 20 minutes of running was pretty exhausting, huffing, puffing and sweating, after I actually learned how to run I was doing 10 milers regularly.

The only knee pain I get now is from going in deep when using the Hack Squat

Running is tough on the knees especially for guys like us who lift weights and weigh 200 lbs +. Running technique and minimalist shoes like mbreti suggested can lower it (I couldn't take the dive into the vibrams but I got a pair of new balance minimus' which are pretty much the same thing sans individual toes).

I prefer the rower and other low impact forms of cardio.
