    Jerking While Trying to Sleep

Now that I got your attention... lol.

Lately, right at the point I start to drop off to sleep, I will get a muscle twitch, or jerk, in one or the other of my arms. Sometimes they can be pretty severe. Even the minor ones will bring me back to full conscience at least for a minute or two before nodding off again. Does this indicate I am overwhelming my CNS from too much physical activity? This happened to me once before a long time ago for a few nights. That time is was so bad I could not sleep at night at all. After a few days it passed and has only started up again along with my activity level. This time it is not nearly as severe, just annoying.

I bike 15-20 miles 6 days a week and lift 3 times a week. Before this I was a professional couch potato for years and years...

    doubtful

it's been awhile, but I was in a light sleep, and dreaming I was back in the army, running one of my races. But this time, I was about to step in a hole and probably twist the shiit out of my ankle, so I jerk my foot real hard to avoid the hole....

....and kick the ol' lady in the bed. She wakes up thinking I was pissed cuz maybe she was snoring or something, and I was trying to get her to stop? So now she's pissed wanting to know why I kicked her? So I begin to tell her there was this hole...

Try Magnesium Citrate before bed. Start with 400mg and increase to 800mg. Maybe even higher but that's a start.

LOL @ TR "there was this hole...."

happens to me often and my girl thats how I know she has fallen asleep actually. My reasoning behind it is from dreaming that I am either falling or some other trauma. Just a reaction of some sorts

Funny story, I was dreaming I was standing at a urinal in the guys washroom takin a leak. Some dude beside was was standing there, and he starts to lean over to try and take a peak. So I go and back hand him, but I actually launched a back hand in real life, right onto my girls nose. She started screaming and there was blood in the bed,I tried to explain about the guy at the urinal and she didn't seem interested to say the least

    Funny stories!

Just wanted to point out those types of "jerks" happen on occasion (not often though) but now that I've picked up my pace with exercise it happens a lot more. Just wondering what the cause was. I still fall asleep very quickly so nothing else has changed.

I was taking 300 mg of elemental magnesium which gave me the um, er, runs (see my "nasty" thread for details... or better yet, don't). Is the form you're talking about react differently on the body?
