    Umbilical Hernia

I got an umbilical hernia about two years ago. It doesn't really bother me unless I lay on my stomach or bump into something.

I was wondering if anyone has had one and had surgery to fix it?

Are there cons to not getting it fixed?

    Thanks!!

yep. had one all my life. no big deal. never hurts, and has never bothered me.

looks a little different. Instead of concave, it looks convex.

    Mom called it an "outtie"

I had the surgery last year recovery was about 8 weeks. They sewed me up no mesh. The first 3 days was about the worst pain I ever experienced, after that not too bad. I kept active walked alot to keep the weight off. I didn't push myself on the weights until probably 10-12 weeks after. I've started a thread on it last year I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks guys! Read your thread very informative.

Are you back to lifting with no problems. I would imagine dead lifts would be kind of scary to do at first after the surgery.

Yes lifting with no problems after the hernia operation. I was pretty gun shy for the first 3-4 months because the pain was still fresh in my mind. Even though the worst pain was only for a few days, it was BAD!
