Abdominal Pain
About a week ago I decided to do a good long workout for my abs and core. The next couple days to my surprise I was actually sore. About three days later after the soreness went away I again attempted to do the same workout routine, but when I did my first crunch I felt a huge sharp pain in my midsection. I noticed that I could workout my obliques and sides with no problem, but when it came to any type of stretching or bending at the midsection I would have this sharp pain. I then did cardio for 2 days to give my mid section a rest. On day three I went back to weights and on my first exercise which was the bench press I could feel the pain when I would lift the bar off the rack. Now I'm annoyed, I cant work out my abs and core, but now this pain is restricting me from doing other workouts. I played basketball yesterday to get some exercise, and I tweeked even more by reaching for a pass that was over my head. The pain is coming from the bottom of the right side of my belly button to all the way to the right side of my intestines. Any idea of what exactly is going on here? How long does this usually take to heal? Should I see a doctor? Should I even do any type of working out or exercise?

anyone else scratching their head and thinking hernia?
if it's a hernia, it doesn't go away. You will need surgery.
time to go to the doc and see what's what

Yeah, I was hoping it was just an abdominal strain and with time it would heal. I'm guessing a doctor visit is in my near future. =(

ok. not as long as I was originally thinking.
you really need to let it rest/heal. give it a week of total rest, and then LIGHTLY hit some ab routines and see what happens. if it begins to hurt, STOP and go see your doc.
if it turns out to be a hernia, it's really not something to play around with, you know?
