    Depo Medrol

    Hi guys.

I've been having shoulder problems off and on for years. The pain seems to be kind of just above my biceps where the biceps connect to the shoulder. It first started about 10 years ago from construction (heavy labor). Anyway, the pain and inflammation went away but it flared up in both shoulders about 2 months ago.

My doctor first prescribed 200 mg of Celebrex, which I have been on continuously for 60 days straight. The medication initially worked but then it kind of pooped out and my shoulder pains began to arise. I saw my doctor today and he prescribed Depo Medrol (methylprednisolone acetate) Injectable Suspension. I am going to see him in a few days and he is going to inject 40 mg into each shoulder, then said if I still have pain he will do more injections in a few weeks.

So my question is: has anyone heard of Depo Medrol, or had any experience with this drug?

    Thanks.

Yes. I've had several of them over the years. Generally, I get some relief fairly soon from the shots fairly quickly and then a slow gradual improvement.

Generally, one injection gets me squared away. If I recall correctly the only time I needed more than one was when I ruptured the bursa in my shoulder. Then there was a.week or two in between injections.

I had my injections the other day and I trained chest with back and so far the drug seems to be working, albeit slowly. I train shoulders in a few days and that will be the true test.

So I had my injections eight days ago and I am beginning to get some relief. But my doctor didn't aspirate ; he just pushed the needle in my shoulder and quickly injected the medrol. Anyway, when he pulled the needle out of my shoulder it started to bleed. And even today I still have a bruise on my shoulder about the size of a quarter. It doesn't hurt now, but I'm just surprised there is still bruising. Do you guys think he hit a vein?
