    six weeks no gym!

I could use some advice. Having surgery soon and going to be be very limited in my activities. No weight training for six weeks. No cardio for a few weeks. What's the best way to maintain lbm and no increase fat? High protien, low carb? Throw in some supplements, or aas? Any advice apreciated. I'm 29, 205lbs, about 17% several cycle s down

Based on your stats I'm guessing you know how to eat fairly well. Obviously, reduce your overall calories, try to keep your protein up and your carbs and fats down. There really isn't much else you can do since you will be sedentary.

Honestly, I would say to use your situation as a "food vacation", eat healthy but feel free to indulge yourself somewhat and not worry too much about your diet while you recover. Since you have a lifting history, once you are able to go full steam in the gym again your muscle memory will kick in and you'll be back to your old self in no time.

The only thing you can do is reduce calories to minimize fat storage as you will not be active during the day.

As far as maintaining lbm there is nothing you can do.

The body is an amazing machine and when it comes to muscle, if you dont use it you lose it.

One thing that could help is doing static hold flexes, obviously its not the same as gym but something is better than nothing.

I'm sure the worst part will be psychological. I took just 4 days off about a week ago to heal a back injury and I was getting VERY antsy about not being able to work out.

    Good luck!

speaking from experience i was off work and had a knee operation last year. 5 months i was off and believe me its all down to how much you care about your body. the worst part definitely is psychological. i put on over 20lbs and now im paying the price. keep focused and keep your calories in check and stay away from chocolate and cans of coke. i wish i did! good luck
