Any of you MEN every tried Botox or Dermal Fillers?

So, I went to the Dermatologist today to get my "all over skin check". Let me tell you, when they say "all over", they mean it. That bitch, bat-winged me!!!! My wife hasn't even done that. Anyway, after it was determined that I was skin cancer free, they asked me if I was interesting in an anti-aging consult. I said sure, I'd like to get a script for some tretinoin. 40 yrs is just around the corner and I've heard some prescription Retin-a work wonders for wrinkles. She told me she would have the doctor prepare a script and consult on other services as well. Doc walks in and 30 min later I leave with a full plan for Botox in my forehead to get rid of some wrinkles, dermal filler around my eyes so I "look less tired" and maybe a laser skin treatment to even out my skintone. I never knew how many things were wrong with my face until today. I may need a psych consult now. haha. I told her I was gonna have to give it some thought. This was my first introduction to the world of cosmetics. I had just always kind of associated it as something only women and male actors do. I never even considered it for myself before today. I feel like there's still quite a lot of stigma there. Am I wrong? Or is it just because I live around a bunch of Rednecks? I feel weird even considering having the work done. But then I weird about feeling weird about having it done. lol. She said they were very conservative in their treatments and rarely would anybody notice that I had work done - only that I'd look "healthier, more rested, refreshed, more youthful". I said good, I don't want to look like Val Kilmer or Mickey Rourke.

It's weird, I went in there to get some moles looked at and I came out questioning my face. You know what, FVCK HER!!!!. haha

Anyway. What do you guys think? Any of you ever have any cosmetic work done? Were you happy with the results would you do it again?

I've never had any work done.
Not sure if I ever will.

I am lucky in that I have a full head of hair.
And even at 49 I only have a grey mist.

To each their own but if you are under 40 I am not sure what work you would really need.
That being said... I wouldn't hold it against you if you had work done.

Just do be careful... I know of way too many good looking people who have done too much.
There is something to aging gracefully.

I felt the same way until she started pointing shit out. I thought I looked damn good for my age and then walked out of there questioning everything I know. Like you, I also have a full head of hair, but I do have quite a bit of gray creeping in - I owe that to being an employer in 2008.

My wife got home a little earlier and she thought I was crazy. I was like "But mean bitch lady Doctor said....". Anyway, the wife doesn't think I should go back, but I'm not sure if it's because of the cosmetic stuff or the bat-winging business.

I would see zero wrong in having it done but remember that as soon as she went from checking you for cancer to anti-aging the business model changed. And 40 I would consider really young to get started on that specific path.

I haven’t dabbled with fillers or Botox and know people who have. Some things to consider

- If you have a fast metabolism, your body will metabolize these faster as well...what supposed to last 8 weeks gone in 4 so more $$$

- My dermatologist makes far more revenue on anti aging!!! It’s big business! Cancer screening gets you in the door for the fun stuff.

- Sell is hardcore! I was in for mole check and patient room walls plastered with advertisements and take home brochures.

- once u start it’s addictive! there’s always a bigger better more costly option.

- move from face to fixing the rest of the body....cold sculpting now in Dermotogy offices.

- when we could sit in waiting room pre covid, all ages getting fillers...even teenage daughters with their moms ...those duck

Geez. They will sell to anyone!

- keeping natural look is a talent of the dermatologist and patient - you are in control.

- you might be better served with anti-aging products. The best I’ve found are more natural based then chemical based. I took a chance on Costco road show - expensive. Some people swear by oil of Olay...cheap.

- good diet and hydration and skin protection is the best anti aging treatment!

I thought dermal fillers were for deep wrinkles. I'm nearing 50 and have embraced my wrinkles. But I have dark circles under my eyes that haunt me. I've tried every OTC and home remedies I can find to no avail. Ok not every, but a lot!! Just horrible dark bags that just don't go away! Looks even worse in photos.

You don’t need all that, they just try to sell you shit by amplifying any minor thing so you feel bad. I ran a small laser treatment clinic where we did non-invasive treatments including photo facials/tightening. I don’t think it’s a bad thing for a guy to want to improve his appearance, as long as it’s not taken too far. I had a few hair reduction treatments on my back and shoulders. I wouldn’t be opposed to photo facials, but since I have a 5 o’clock shadow immediately after shaving, it’s not gonna work for me.

You know, take your time with all sorts of injections. Very often, good creams and massages are enough. Cosmetologists are trying to sell you unnecessary procedures, because they need to make money. And the secret of a good skin condition is healthy sleep, proper nutrition, activity. Massages and daily care products help. You may not be a Hollywood star, but you will not get hooked on injections either.
