    Question Shoulder spurs

I am stuck in Iraq and just found out when i was on leave I have shoulder spurs and should not workout to much untill I get surgery. I have been working out for 12 years and am missing it right now. Has anyone worked through this and if so any ideas on what i can do to keep myself busy while waiting for surgery. I have to wait till my mission is over to get the surgery which is in about four months. Thanks

I would avoid overhead movements like military press right now. You would just be irritating it further - the spur is rubbing against your rotator cuff muscles and will give you rotator cuff tendinitis, or worse, maybe a partial tear.

If you want to work shoulders I would avoid heavy weights. Maybe try some lateral raises with dumbbells, and see how it feels. Rear delts should be ok to work, like bent over flyes with dumbbells.

Good luck and stay safe. I was there a few years ago, I imagine its different now. (We didn't have any internet access at the time.)
