thanks mj, nice of you to say that. i have been training 8 years in gym but did 10 years in karate before that so i had a good start there.i was borderline between figure and physique, so after i won class at nabba brits 2004 then 3rd at nabba worlds, i decided that i had to either trim muscle down or change class. so change class i will. ive been trying to get more size on for the past 6 months and have gained a little but i feel it wont be enough. i will give show a go in oct this year.
It shows that you put a ton of hard work into getting where you are now. Props to you!
Yeah you are jacked!
is hard for most women to gain muscle but harder for her to gain respect from male gym members especially in a hard core gym, over here in scotland. i am the only female in my gym inwhich we have over 150 members.
it has been hard but worthwhile. i love the sport.

RG, you do figures? I'm not asking in a bad way just curious....you've the build for BB comp more than figures......generally I don't see many women compeditors in figures as ripped as you are. Have you done any BB comps?

i competed in figure in britain and europe and once in australia. british figure tend to be a bit more muscular than american figure girls, where as the figure girls in germany/russia/spain etc are more muscular than our girls.
when i did the brits last year, i won my class but didnt take the overall cos the judges thought i was too ripped, i would put off future girls thinking of competing. and also i was always marked down for an imperfection i have which they deem to be not "figure like" i.e the glutes......as they rip up before my abs are even showing. they say that is too physique like. i got 2nd place to a girl in a show in europe where we were similar condition everywhere apart from the butt. hers was a bit wobbly and mine was shredded. they said i was too ripped and gave it to her. a judge told me it was the glutes that lost me a european title! so i had to take the decision to change over to physique but i am a small physique. im 40 years old now so i dont think i can get much more size on, even though im training like a maniac.

Not at all RG...I fund it very interesting. That has to suck losing because you were too ripped....wow. Question for you though...can you leave the buttocks relaxed as opposed to flexed come time of the judging? Or does your bottom looked ripped like that just walking around? Not trying to be funny so forgive me if I sound that way.
Btw...40? Wow...that's very impressive to say the least. I know girls half that that wold kill to have a bod like that.
that pic as avatar is glutes relaxed!!! i once had a judge suggest to me i go to a chemist and try to get false skin to maybe mask the rips. ha ha lmao.
i couldnt believe my ears that this nonsense was coming out of the mouth of a respected and very experienced nabba judge. when i pose the legs on a back view glutes lines go quite a bit deeper again so i try not to put much strain on glute area.
it hasnt done me any favours in comp, that for sure.
i am 40 now. and the pic on avatar was taken a year ago at nabba brits.
i suppose i am lucky but i have worked for the shape i have as i used to be really skinny. but now i fight to keep the body fat down to a manageable level.

Good lord woman... I thought I was in good shape at 39..... 235lb, 11% bf. Well maybe that's why I'm single.... damn I had better get back to the gym and put down this twinkie.... but I love em so much
i didnt realise a female with striated glutes was so rare? does the bigger physique women not have rips on butt? my glutes are through long before my abdominals are showing.
i dont look like the avatar all year round, although i would like that. i love my food too much and my workplace makes it hard for me to eat properly too with the security measures in place i struggle to get some of my food in and i cant take any vitamins or anything in with me either. i usually weigh 13 stone off season and compete at approx 11 stone.
