2 years cancer free;3 weeks to show

This month is my 2 year anniversary since I got the reports from Stanford Medical that I was cancer free, I have included a picture taken a month after I was diagnose February 2005 and one after chemo, after I had gained 18 pounds back. I have three weeks until my first of two shows, I'm excited about it, but look forward to growing next year after seeing my legs starting to respond. Any comments are welcome good or bad! Thanks and Livestrong!

How can anyone say anything bad? That's an inspiring story. You look great! And you're one of the few people I know that actually looks good bald (besides me and Telly Sevalis - I know I spelled his name wrong but you know what I mean....) :-)

You one ugly guy -.-... LOL im just kidding man. I must say wow great accomplishment and especially at your age to bounce back like that. I know a friend who went through the same and has been working out a lot gained a lot of weight also. Inspiring to see what some people can do. Again great job.

What a comeback! You are looking good especially for a 49 year old. I would have never guessed 49.

whether you were 49, or in your 20's, healthy all of your life, or have overcome a terrible disease..i would be impressed by your physique..at any age, with any history, the body youve built is incredible, and one to be proud of..but knowing where you have come from makes your dedication and corresponding progress even more special..theres no doubt that anyone from any background ranging from the out of shape guy struggling to find his motivation to a seasoned competitive or even professional bodybuilder who comes across your story, is inspired to push as hard as they can, or take where-ever they are at to a new level..and i can say that speaking from my own experience, and the effect youve had on my own training.
What you're doing is important work bro..it really is...and seeing you look bigger and better every week PUMPS me up..everything is really rounding out as you continue to look fuller while leaning up..your tricep in that side chest pose looks like i could rest a pop can on it...f'n A man...you are gonna come in looking sick. continued success with your diet man! keep kicking ass..cant wait to see pics of ya on stage!
    regards,
    tank

You were big before you got cancer, or?

Kinda looks like you had a good pouch of muscle before, but obviously lost quite a bit of it.

    Very inspirational, livestrong!

Yeah Van, I started training in the late 70's and competed in the 80's. My weight fluctuated between 215 to 240 upto my early 40's, then I started having the health issues. Thanks Bro! Livestrong
