Disappointed with size gains
A little less than 2 weeks ago I did my first ever rep of 300 lb bench press. The same week I increased my single-rep squat max to 420 lbs. The numbers have me pumped, but recently I have been concerned with my size. I don't feel like I look like someone who should be able to do that much weight, so I've provided some stats and a pic (more to come later if needed). Maybe you guys can help me out.
18 years old
just a hair under 6'3"
184 lbs
not sure about my BF%, I'll let you all make a guess at that
been training on and off for 2 years, pretty steady for the last 6 months
diet: I'm a poor college student, so I basically eat whatever is available to me. I try to keep my calories to a minimum of 3000 per day, and I have some protein to make sure I get at least 180g per day, but that's the best I can do without much money. (Luckily the semester is over this week, and I'll be eating better for at least a month while I'm at home.)
gear: I have never taken any steroids .
Also, you can tell my forearms are laughably undersized. Any advice on specific workouts that can help with size, despite my poor diet?
(Well, shit, its telling my uploads are failing. Give me a minute, I will try to get pics up.)Last edited by TheYoungOne; 12-09-2007 at 05:37 PM. Reason: add pics

If you're disappointed in size gains you shouldn't be, that's what's expected when you're eating 3000 cals a day, bro.

You want him to gain fat or muscle? jeez..
Anyway, you're barely getting 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight each day.

Man, if you're 6' 3" and 184 you more than likely have a wicked metabolism and should get your calorie intake up higher per day. Even being a "poor college student" you should be able to find cheap ways to get quality protein sources.....eggs, peanut butter, chicken....
If you're training that heavy on a consistant basis and have the stats you posted.....find a way to get those calories up and you ought to notice gains coming your way
