    The "before" look.....with no "after".

Now we must be wondering, "why would someone post his sad, 'before' photo, prior to making the 'transformation' without an 'after' shot to redeem his sad ass?" I mean, admittedly, my body is like that of the bleach-chested nerdy kid at the beach who gets the sand kicked in his face by the bigger dudes.

Yes, I know, but it helps motivate me to be more consistent and follow through with the whole transformation thing, knowing that I'll have to back up a public claim to do so.

No, I was never a fat kid at all. I was always the skinniest kid in the group.
But I'm not a kid anymore. I'm a 42 year old doctor. I've been very consistent now with diet, John Berardi style, and workouts...for a few months now. So this picture (believe it or not) is actually a transformation of sorts in its own right. But the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...

Seven weeks ago I was 168 lbs, 69 inches tall, 27.2% bf.
Three weeks ago I was same wt, and 23.4% bf
    Biceps 14 inch.
Already getting some comments from people who don't know I exercise:
someone who's met me previously: "you've changed, you look more buff"
a patient who never met me: "you look like you're in good shape"
    which is tremendously motivating.

Anyway, here's my pic; and I don't mind straight talk; aint gonna run away with my tail between my legs, so any comments are !

I started walking on the treadmil, not running for an hour each morning before eating or drinking anything. It has helped me to eliminate the extra weight around my stomach hiding my abs. I am sorry I do not know if this is part of your routine, but thought it might help. I am 38 and happy with the results. I hate to run and never saw myself getting on a treadmill, but I only go about 3 MPH and burn about 700 cals/hour.
Have you ever thought about HGH? It also can help to further the weight loss process over a long period of time. Good Luck.

Thanks for responses. Any feedback is better than none.

Honestly, here are some comments I do NOT expect to hear:

"wow, dude, great foundation!" (yeah, for an ANT farm)

    "thick!" (er....thick like poster board)

but maybe more reasonable: "hey, great way to save on your lighting bill, going shirtless! props for that!"

Actually I hesitate to mention that I'm taking some compounded blend of test (cyp, enanth, prop, dec) prescribed for me by a company specializing in replacement for over age-30 folks for antiaging purposes...because, while I want advice and want to learn, I already know the general feeling is "your not ready for that man" and so on. Well I had already started that anyway. The HGH (or alternatively GHRH) offered me is way too costly, and so is Winstrol (also prescribed for same purposes). They have you do a wide panel of blood tests and then prescribe based on the results without every seeing you. It's more expensive, but it's above board, legit and dont worry about quality or legal problems/seizures etc.

I do light to heavy cardio three times weekly for an hour in TKD class--well it's better described "as interval work." I'll have my bf checked again in a few weeks to see if the decline has continued.

    thanks again!

Today I had the trainer measure my bf using two diff devices:

    (1) used the bioimpedance floor model (measures thru yer feet) = 11.9%

    (2) then did the handheld device (measures thru yer hands) = 16.6%

Compared with the calipers done a couple of weeks ago which = 23.4%

The trainer looked at my belly and thought that the handheld device was the more accurate. I'm guessing that the most accurate means of measuring bodyfat is based on visual inspect by someone with experience. Those numbers there are a HUGE spread!

Well, decided after all this time to post comparisons. Definitely an improvement, but crappy considering how many months it's been. Anyway, I am learning.

I think the gains will improve by adding a couple thou cals to my daily intake and improving my routines in the gym.

Feel free to come after me with guns ablazing...but constructive please..

You have definitely made improvements Scibble and congratulations on that....now for the constructive part, you could have made much better gains if you had your diet in tact before starting. And this site is an awesome place to get the diet advice you need to reach your goals.

Good luck man and keep up the hard work.

    Hey Doc;
Lookin good - those are some nice progress pics. I'd say watch the diet - add cals and make it clean (no simple carbs, no sugar, little fat, etc.) If you continue lifting hard you'll do great. You may also want to get a trainer once a week to push you further - but make sure it's someone smart & experienced - not some yahoo sociaology major who couldn't find a real job.

    Good luck bro!

Major improvement. Do you have a final goal of the size and shape you want to be, or is it developing as you progress?
