Be sure to hit the nutrition forum and speak to the guys about your diet. It will make or break you. Good luck. Be consistent and it will pay off for you.

If you research some before you start with your diet you will be amazed at how much that will help you. Give it about 6 months with some hardcore training and you will look a lot different. But you got to stay dedicated bro.

That's what I plan to do, I'm gonna let the guys in the nutrition section critique my diet and go from there.
Thanks for the advice to bro.

I'll still notice upper body and leg gains though as the only fat is in my midsection and a little in the chest.

    This.

You could gain 15lbs lbm which would be a great accomplishment but still look terrible (no offense) because your gains would be covered with adipose tissue.

Spend the extra time to drop the excess bf before trying to gain so your results will be that much more noticeable and rewarding.

I gave that a lot of thought but honestly I would be happier to get bigger with some fat on me than to be shredded and just skinny.

You'll do what you wish but I've done it both ways and always feel and look better when I have mass at a lower bf%.

Adding lbm covered with fat is not nearly as rewarding as adding tissue when the striations and cuts are obvious.

No argument there but I think any upper body (aside from chest) and leg gains would show enough to be noticeable. That should be plenty to keep me going for the next 5 months or so.

Besides I heard its easier to cut when you have more lbm?

If you're set on gaining first then I'm not gonna waste my time trying to talk you out of it. Youll end up looking like a bigger version of what you look like right now......so just be prepared to cut bf afterwards.

I know I might seem stubborn but I just don't wanna see myself as a skinny kid. I have a good 8-9 months before I need to look good without a shirt on so that leaves me plenty of time for a good bulk then to get shredded.

I used to be skinny with a bit of fat in my midsection only to try and get big. Same result every time. A strong guy with higher body fat. Lean first it will be worth it. Chances are you will end up doing it sometime. Might as well do it first. You do have time like you said. Listen to people that have been there. Either way good luck. Your in the right place.

What I could do and you guys could tell me if this sounds like a good idea.
Since I'm just starting out again is take 2 months to build up a good base and get my weights up. Then cut and once I lean out just do a clean bulk until summer.

Almost there. Me personally I would eat about 500 calories below my tdee and hit the weights not to heavy so your body gets used to it again. You will lose weight, tone, and prepare your muscles, joints and tendons for heavier weight. In my op.

You will look bigger with less body fat.

I would definitely listen to the great advise from these guys buddy. I understand where you are coming from about being skinny. I use to be the same way when I was in HS for track. Few years after HS I was 5'11 240lbs (I like to think I beat the hell out of my moms skinny side of the family genetics haha) I was strong as hell but didn't feel good and didn't look good. I cleaned my diet up completely, and changed my training. 6 months later I was 195 11% bf and looked way bigger than I did before and far more healthy.

I truly wish I would have Listened to the people who told me to eat clean and train hard. You have to remember buddy, its not a sprint, its a Marathon. People who look at it as a sprint never last.....they stay looking like shit, their lifts are shit and they get on boards and wonder what the **** they are doing wrong.

I apologize for the long post buddy!

    Prepare for the Marathon.

Glad to see most people agree. Getting big is great but seeing different muscles grow and become more defined whilst gaining size cannot be beat! I love flexing in the mirror when my Bf is low

Pulling your skin in that last pic doesnt make your gut disappear. No offense bud, I would take some of the advice given by other people and work some of that BF off. This can be done while making gains no doubt, I wouldn't suggest an all out bulk, because that is just going to leave you with way more to cut down the road.
Is this your first time training? Sorry if you already posted about that, I didnt read the whole thread.

if i were you id hit the nutrition forum
i get where youre coming from, you wanna be big and not skinny
    nothing wrong with that,
my advice tho, is cut right now, then when youre below 10% fat start trying to gain lean muscle.
because if you're gaining fat and muscle right now, its only gonna make your fat losing much harder. because youre gonna have alot more fat to lose. and you gotta remember 30% of weight loss is muscle. would you rather cut 30 pounds right now 10 pounds of muscle or cut 60 pounds later and lose 20 pounds of muscle?

Nutrition nutrition nutrition...did I mention nutrition? Take it from someone that was skinny kid and would have given his 1st born to be 200 lbs. Well I ate like shit and way to many cals (didn't know shit about nutrition) and indeed hit 200 lbs. 200lbs. of fat...I had muscle but it was covered by fat. So I got serious with my nutrition and cut from 200 to 180...best move of my life! At 180 I was sitting at about 9% bf which I was happy with but wanted more size. So I gradually started lean bulking and within the next year went from 180 to 195 but here's the kicker, I stayed lean! I was about 10-11% bf at 195. So you do what you want but if you cut 10 lbs. or so then start to lean bulk I'd put money on it you won't regret it!

I can see some progress for one month, but I agree that you should be spending some hours in the nutrition section. Do it!

you dont look terrible bro but could def use a good routine and nutritional plan.......take it how you want it but if i were you id fur sure cut up first get lean and clean up your diet. by doing that you will be able to see how your body works with different exercises cardio and foods. that really helped me out by getting lean and getting to know what my body reacts to best as far as amount of cardio necessary and what foods do my body best. by cleaning up ur diet i dont mean starve yourself but clean up the junk you eat cuz by your figure i can tell its there so try just a simple clean foods diet chk fish lean meats etc. add in a little cardio to the end of your workouts and see what happens. promise youd be best off doing that. then once you get more lean and you see how everything works then start to clean bulk now that you have a solid clean base to build off of. Good luck and if your results dont come as quick as you want dont get discouraged everything comes in good time and youll soon be where you want

If you take AAS you are going to gain about 15lbs of water weight and even though your ams and legs will get bigger so will your belly. You should not do AAS yet, but rather start working on your diet and losing your belly. Once you are back to skinny, then consider AAS and you will look much better as you grow. Its just my two cents, but I think your goal is to look as good as possible. If you gain a bunch of weight then try to cut it will be much harder than just trying to diet now and then grow with a more clean physique and frame.

My advice, and I know I don't have a lot of posts, most likely because I spend more time eating, working out and chasing tail than posting, and this will most likely irritate you and a few others but do some real research, buy books, magazines, talk to a doctor, talk to a dude who looks like he knows what he's doing in the gym. Don't rely on forums. You asked for advice and a lot of great advice was given and you basically said, "eh f it I'm gonna do it my way", not to be a dick but your way may not be working, I'm only assuming by your pictures.
I get the feeling talking about doing things on a forum is easier than actually doing them. I used to do that when I was 16 at parties "oh man I'm going to bang that chick dude" five hours later..."I'm still going to bang that chick bro" next morning "bro you didn't bang that chick."
what I'm trying to say is this. I think a real go getter would make a post that looks a lot more like:
Hey guys I'm 20 years old, I've been training for x number of months/years. starting out this was my goal. I haven't been able to quite get there even after trying x,y and z. according to my research I should be making this progress, I KNOW my training is spot on so I'm guessing it's a nutrition problem, even though I've been going by the book on my diet it's still not working what do you guys suggest? I've attached my workout schedule and diet.
Make sense? I'm not trying to insult you. I've been faithfully working out since I was 20 years old and trust me I was a lot smaller than you, I was the runt of my family, never had a body fat problem so I can't relate there but I do know at 200 lbs and 10 percent body fat I'm getting laid a lot more than 230 and 30 percent bf. But I guess my parents then the Marine Corps taught me to think for myself before asking to be spoon fed. It's your body dude, make it work, will it with the mind and the body will follow. Be honest and realistic with yourself. 8 months to bulk and trim is a tedious task even for the experienced who don't ask questions. My nephew who is three walked out of the bathroom with a piece of toilet paper and showed me and asked if he wiped good enough, I didn't say a word I walked away. ten minutes later when I put him to bed I checked and he had a spotless bum.
The very first real cycle I wanted to start, I had a great hook up for gear and clearly the dude knew what he was doing. I was scared and asked a shit ton of questions about doses and combinations and blah blah blah and he looked at me and said he wouldn't sell anything to me until I could answer those questions myself.

Getting shredded is not so easy, but getting leaner is a more realistic goal. At least if you cut some body fat along with proper nutrition and solid training regimen you would see some symmetry. You can appear larger with a more symmetrical balanced physique. Larger delts smaller waist equals a better appearance. It takes time and your young, be consistent and keep pushing. Add a little quality muscle and cut the BF.
    Good Luck!
