Why was I banned?

I am at a loss here.
I signed up a matter of days ago. Not using and don't plan on it I just wanted to learn more about things related to my field. I jumped on in between jobs today and get a message that I have been perma-banned for no reason given. I read through the rules and don't believe I missed any. I didn't post anything inappropriate. I didn't try to sell anything nor ask for source checks. I had a whopping 6 posts (mostly my introduction) Is this common practice to ban new members and not give them any warning or reason what for?

I am sorry this happen to you we have had an influx of spammers and you apparently got caught in their ip range. Please forgive the inconvenience I will restore your name, Would you please post in here when you log into the other account so I can merge your accounts.

I understand completely and have noticed quite a few of the spammers in the few short days of my being here. Thanks for restoring my username and addressing it quickly. Seems like a good board and was looking to be around here for a while so I was a bit confused when I got the ban message, LOL. Thanks Swifto and Admin for the help!
