When someone replies to my post I have to keep going back to the main menu and then clicking
My post to see the reply is there a tool that will pop up the post like an instant message ?

Have you tried subscribing to your threads? Easiest way to keep an eye on threads and it will give you a notification if anyone posts
It's under the thread tools menu
