    introducing myself

    Hi everyone, I'm Genie.
I'm obviously new so, here goes.
I'm 29, 5'9 and a very unhappy 140lbs. I want to lean out and cut weight.
Pilate's and cardio helps but I can't get what I want. I don't want to see body fat but I don't want to bulk either.
I don't eat anything that screams so I'm really curious about the information out there to get cut without taking in a lot of animal protein.
I've been on sub b12 since December. Tried growth and I'm not sure if there were results.
Still have a second cycle in my fridge.
My body is my job. I'm a dancer and it can never slack.
    Thanks gals.

Hi. You should consider lifting weights. It won't bulk you because you don't have testosterone . It's s myth and the only ladies that put on muscle are taking steroids . Gals do not have enough testosterone to put on muscles. Also consider your diet. What is your macro split? Maybe you aren't eating enough protein? What does an average day look like for you?

I do weights on machines.. Low weight but lots of reps. I try to maintain a ballerina like body. I'm not built like a waif but I try to stay small.

I eat a lot of raw and organic foods. Salads and what not. But I do have a sweet tooth for gummy worms.
I drink here and there and when I eat heavy carbs it's before 4pm.
Injured my knee recently and it's been about a month since the gym and I've noticed a change.
I can do better. And that's why I'm here.
My known use of dieting was severe restrictions and heavy cardio.
Turning 30, it's not suiting me justice. I'm not a kid anymore.
My daughters dad used to do a lot of heavy roids and I saw the difference. I just want to be safe and stay feminine

    ^^^ precisely! Good info GGR!

    Welcome to the forum!

Women can lift just like guys do... As long as your diet is on par w/your training you will no doubt lean out and tone up! Many fitness models are shredded and lift just like us guys... GGR hit the nail on the head(your estrogen is way higher than our testosterone (you'll still be able to build muscle) just stay in the higher rep ranges(12-15, 15+ depending on your goals)!!

I tell every female this. If you want to be lean, lift like a guy. Go to failure get in the squat rack and deadlift.

So getting my diet on point, what does that look like for someone who doesn't eat meat?
I eat seafood here and there but mostly I stay with veggies and fruits.
Monday, I'm going back to the gym to give my knee a trial run.
Any other suggestions other than dead lifts? I've never done "guy" weights before, lol. I usually try to avoid that section of the gym but I'll give it a whirl.
As far as supplements go. I want some. Advice?
Like I said before, I inject b12 sub and have taken growth. Thanks!

Diet. Suggest post in the nutrition forum. Include your stats (h/w/age) and goals. And a full day of meals.

The good folks over there will help you. I suspected your protein is too low and now I believe that is not helping you. I eat a lot of chick and fish and protein shakes to get my protein intake.

Training. Take it easy on that knee. No re injuries. I avoided that side of the gym too until 2 years ago. The guys will help you with training to in your new thread. I am doing 3 days of weights and 3 days of cardio. Or at least that is my goal. One day for legs. One day for bi and back. One day for shoulders and tris.

Supplements. Good daily vitamin is a must. Are you thinking about AAS??

There are a few Vegan protein powders out there. I tried them when I was Vegan. I had to go back to meat proteins though. I just couldn't grow or get lean without it. Visit the diet section. I am sure they will help you out. BTW, Welcome!

I tried vegan also. Very difficult to get the protein counts. Not impossible.

So I went grocery shopping, and I think you all are right. My protein is down.
I looked at the protein content in my norm and it was not sufficient.
I spent over an hour at trader joes reading ingredients and researching on vegetarian protein options. 👍 I'm a good cook so I'm positive this will be great working with all the new and wonderful ingredients I'm introduced to.
Calories was always something I focused on and completely neglected protein. No wonder my hair grows so slow! 😲
Okay, so I'll be leaving this thread since the warm and fuzzy welcoming period has turned new pages.
    See you all later!
    Thanks!

My wife is also a dancer. I've been working on easing her into the weightlifting for about three or four months now... It's been hard to get her to realize she won't turn into Xena warrior Princess. She is also a big fan of the feminine ballet-like figure but not a waife.... That's what she was when I met her ha ha... It's taking me about five years to transition her to a better Athletic fuller look
