New guy here
Hey all,
I'm new to the board. I've been lifting off and on for over 20 years, started when I was 14 or 15 for wrestling and I am 37 now. I was pretty serious about it when in the Marine Corps, and put on some decent size and strength, then cut back in the years that followed. I went through a phase where I was heavily into triathlon and during that time pretty much lost most mass and a lot of strength. At that time I was only lifting 1-2x a week and only doing 9 or so sets for most body parts, and zero for bi/tri, and all of it very high rep.
Anyway, a couple years back I started doing a more traditional bodybuilding routine, made some gains, and now I again want to add some additional lean mass.
I'll be looking for advice and whatnot.

Also, not sure if this matters but I'm 5'6", 160# and probably 10% BF or so (maybe more right now due to holiday diet).
Would like to get back to my old peak of 172# and 8%, or even better.

when you get up to 25 posts check out my profile, one of my rides is in there. Currently I'm running a 496 stroker, but I have visions of a 572 dancing in my head.

cool, will have to check it out. A local guy has a crate 572 he bought from Scoggin Dickey. Mean as hell but he had to do a lot of chassis work to handle the power and torque. Though I am sure that 496 is no slouch in the hp or tq departments.

I've got it in a '79 Vette, 700R4, 2500 stall, 3.70:1 rear. It's a blast to drive, but just about no traction even with the biggest tires I can fit. Still runs out really well, but I can't just floor it at almost any speed or the back tries really hard to pass the front lol.

I will definitely have to check it out.
If you have some time to burn, have a look at this one:
http://www.usedcorvettesforsale.com/...tte-26027.html
The car is called "King Ray", a play on the Corvette Sting Ray and is very nicely done.
Here are some articles on the building of it (only the articles that mention King Ray are about the 572 powered car, the others are general Corvette articles).

now that is a very nicely done car. the paint does not even look real it is so deep. with the economy in the shitter i wonder if he'll have a tough time selling that? the big barrett-jackson auction is in scottsdale next month and that is usually a good indicator of the health of the collector and muscle car market.

Hey Big,
I checked out your ride. Looks good. Is it in primer? Any plans for paint or are you going to be sticking with that satin look?

Do you have a painter you can use? I've heard of people being quoted 10k for paint, which is outrageous to me.
I painted a Camaro in my garage about 15 years ago and it was not that hard. The prep work is dirty, monotonous work and takes a lot time, but is not really that hard to learn. I'd be inclined to do it myself if I decide I need paint in the future.

I do everything myself, a friend has a paint booth I use. I started doing paint and body, custom interiors, and drivetrain work as a teenager, then got into high end car audio, etc. I one day plan to open up my own shop after I retire.

You'd be surprised. There are some 15,000 people in the NCRS and only a few hundred have cars judged each year. The vast majority just like old Corvettes for what they are or were. It is a restoration organization so it rewards restored cars, but it isn't like they look down on cars that aren't all stock.
Do you ever check out Corvette Forum? It has it's idiots like any forum but there are a lot of good people there too.
