Unhappy In the gym a lot. Now I need to learn how to work out

So I have been looking over this site for a while and adding value when I can however this is my first time starting my own thread. So I think I have an interesting maybe even backward story but here goes. About a year ago I was introduced to a gym owner that was struggling to keep his doors open and quickly realized he knew a ton about working out and nothing about running a business. Me on the other hand knew a lot about business and nothing about working out ( not nothing but very little). Long story short I ended up buying his gym and within a short amount of time that location started killing it. I bought 4 more this year and own a large interest in a franchise chain. Now that I am deep in the industry I am getting a ton of s**t for not knowing more about working out and looking the part. Anyway here are my stats
    Age 34
    Height 6'
    Weight 235 lbs
    BF% 20
I have always been strong and look strong but have been told a self respecting gym professional should be bigger and leaner. I look forward to working with everyone here to silence the haters over the next year while I kill it at work and the gym.

Welcome and congrats on your biz. But I wouldn't be that worried about it. That is what you pay your instructors and that for there. I own a chain of tanning salons and while I know everything there is to know about tanning, I am usually quite pale and very fair. All the time I get "how come your not tanned". It is like people think because I own a bunch of tanning salons that I should be the most tanned guy in the city. I find it rude people say that to me actually. I usually reply "I am too busy taking money to the bank to be tanning all the time" It's like because you own gyms they think you should look like Jay Cutler or something.

For my industry, it's usually the same. Someone who has indoor tanned for years thinks "oh, it would be easy to open a tanning salon" but they know nothing of business or the industry and fail in 6 months. I see it all the time.

Sorry, if this seem like a bit of a hi-jack but I thought the parallel was interesting. But nothing wrong with getting into better shape for sure.

Yes congratulations and welcome, if you go to the diet section there is currently a challange being posted for people who want to be part of a twelve week program being trained by some of us, go check it out, or you can post a thread in the workout or diet sections and ask for help.

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome.
Natureboy you are exactly right. I am a silent partner on a few tanning salons and that along with the gyms it seems people think I should be a tan Adonis I wonder if it would be ok to be a fat bastard if I owned fast food joints?

Matt I am reading everything I can get my hands on. I have read every page of the Anabolic steroids research guide and will continue to read the forum posts I will do my best to get up to speed before asking a bunch of dumb questions.

Tbody66 That sounds awesome. I have been looking for that post but cant seem to find it. Can you let me know what the title is or send me a link?
