Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading the posts here for a few weeks. I'm 37 years old and am an ex-body builder. These days I'm really into bike racing. Like a lot of body builders I focused too much on upper-body when I was a kid. That doesn't bode too well for cyclists. We focus on power-to-weight ratio. But if you have a lot of old muscle mass (I carry around a lot of base) and have chicken legs the your sorta the inverse of what's desired. I also have hypothyroidism and am on 100mcgs of T4 and 20 mcgs of T3. With age I've found that my weigh is harder to keep down despite long hours on the bike and muscle mass is harder to keep on my legs, even though I do a lot of leg work in the gym in the winter. This winter I was squatting 350 for reps and leg-pressing 700lbs at the end of my 2nd weight cycle in tandem with 15-20 hours per week on the bike. Still results are hard to come by as I race guys half my age who don't have to work or deal with a lot of the stress I do. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and hope to get to know some of you, especially other cyclists.
