    Welcome to the board mate!
18 is a great age to start weight lifting / body building. Your body is a finely tuned machine and will respond to any and all inputs. I think that the hardest thing for someone your age, besides learning patience (body building takes years), is learning how to communicate with your own body. Everyone's body is a little different. Some respond quickly, others slowly. Diet/nutrition has a huge impact on some, others not as great. (Personally, i hate the kids walking around with six pack abs eating big macs and choco shakes!!) So you need to understand your body, what it needs. The first step is to read everything you can get your hands on. I have a few moments so let me guide you around a bit, if you don't mind?

To begin with, let's start with nutrition. This is probably the most underrated aspect of our lifestyle. Most newbs think it all happens in the gym. Wrong! So I'd like to have you read a few things. First, i'd like you to learn about macros (macro nutrients). Go here and read this:

    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...nutrient-Chart

Next, i'd like to have you learn about your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). Go here and read this:

    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...gy-Expenditure

here's something to read if you need to lose some body fat:

    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...nd-sample-diet...
    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...ng-101-Cutting

    another section on dieting:

    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...rn-how-to-Diet

Go through all the above slowly, digest it, get to know it. Next comes the fun part. You should construct your own diet! To do this properly, you should probably get a food scale, since alot of what you eat will be measured (4oz of this..., 8oz of that). When you put your diet together, you need to begin with the total daily calories you will be consuming. This is where your TDEE comes in. Say for now you neither want to lose weight nor gain weight. If your TDEE is 2800 calories, then that is amount of calories you should eat per day. A starting point on how you would allocate those macros might be 40/40/20 (protein/carbs/fat) - these are percentages, by the way.

Understanding a food's gly c emic value is very important to know, so go here to this liink, and you can search any food to see it's value:
    www . g l y c e m i c index . com - put it together the right way and the link will work

You will notice that most of us eat all the time. Personally, i'm at 6 or 7 meals a day. My meals are smaller, but i'm eating almost every two hours. You should construct your eating schedule the same way. Smaller, more frequent meals improves your metabolism, and helps reduce body fat. At this point, it might be easier to go to the diet section here
    http://forums.steroid.com/forumdispl...RESOURCE-FORUM

and steal someone elses diet to use as a template. adjust it for the macros you need and foods you feel are appropriate for you to eat. then go ahead and start a new thread, post your diet, so we can take a look. Please include macros per meal and total macros per day. Also include your TDEE and your stats (height, weight, estimated body fat %). Once you do that, we can begin the process of fine tuning what you put in your body. Many will provide comments and suggestions.

I spend alot of time getting newbs going on their diet because often the most overlooked aspect of what we do. You need to do the same sort of thing with your exercise routines, but I won't get into all that now since you have a few days work ahead of you.

As with everything else in life, you will only get out of body building what you put into it.
    Good luck!

Welcome man! Take the advise about the diet. Lifting weights alone will only get you so far, I had to learn that lesson myself.
