30 yrs old. TRT ready to make the most of it!

    I am a 30 year old male
    6'5" 262lbs
    31 BMI

Lately I have had massive weight gain in my stomach area with no change to diet and have had sexual problems with my girlfriend. I went to the doctor, was refered to the Endo, had blood work done and came back after 3 test with an average of 300 testosterone and close to normal free T. My Endo wants to draw blood one more time and suggested after we get the results that we try a trail run of TRT. He suggested doing 200mg injections every two weeks. If the trail goes well then I am assuming he will prescribe TRT for me to use at home. I have a couple of concerns...

    1. I had TRT as a 14 year old to jump start me into puberty. These were weekly 100mg shots. This worked for getting me into puberty but I developed gynecomastia in which I had to have corrective surgery.

    2. I am not concerned about losing my ability to have kids as I do not want them. Testicle shrinkage is a concern but as my testies are larger than usual now (doctors opinion) a reduction would not be that bad.

Other than that I am concerned about this last blood test before my doctor wants to start TRT. My levels are naturally on "the low end of normal" but I want there to be no question for me to start TRT. What are the natural ways to reduce testosterone before the 8am blood test?

When I start my TRT trial, what can i expect for gains as far as working out 5 times a week, targeting specific muscle groups in each work out, and changing to a high protein 7 meals a day diet? I have tried this before on a 12 week program and I had little 10 lbs weight loss and little muscle gain.

    Welcome to the board mate!

    some thoughts....

we do not consider BMI when discussing statistics. this is only a ratio between height and weight with age factored in. it tells me nothing about BF%, which is a huge variable when your physiology is taken into consideration. IMHO, BMI is pointless at an individual level, statistically meaningful when discussing populations at large. Unfortunately, your local GP uses it as he is probably "incentivized" into getting as many of his patients into a certain BMI range.

testicular size typically reverts back to it's prepubescent size once trt begins.

I'm not a big fan of fudging blood tests. they are there for a reason. your case sounds a little different, but my opinion stays the same

your gains on trt should be typical of that for a person of your profile with test levels optimized for a 21 year old. they should NOT be the same for cycling at a higher dose. Please do not confuse a trt dose (very low) with that of a body builder cycling (very high). you are comparing apples and oranges.

    Good luck!

Welcome, come join us TRT guys in the TRT forum lots of great info, there. Injections every 2 weeks is going to put you on roller-coaster ride of peaks and valleys in your T level once a week or even 2x a week for the smoothest ride and to keep estrogen conversion to a minimum.

Post your blood work up in the TRT section and we can have a bigger discussion to make you feel your best..

    Welcome.
It's my understanding that what is considered normal, or optimal for that matter, is largely at the discretion of the Dr.
If he puts the brakes on, it may be worth it to see a diff endo. Just my 2.
At any rate, I'm sure the trt guys wouldn't hate to give you some advice.
    Good luck!
