    Steroids and low back pain?

Hey All, new to the site and have a specific question in mind. I am 29, recently diagnosed with a central disc bulge at L5/S1. I have a very active background but have never tried steroids. Now 6 months post injury, I continue to have Physio, but am no where near returning to training. Considering any available research, can anyone enlighten me into the effects of steroids on neural irritation and potential inflammation? Can they help me to heal? And can they help to eliminate my symptoms of low back pain and leg pain?

This area is mainly for intros ...your best best to get some great responses to your questions is to post it in the steroid q&a section.

Welcome. Steroids will not help with the pain in your back and legs. If anything it could make the pain in your back worse. Disc bulge is not to be taken lightly.

Welcome...Wouldn't count on it. Get w/your doc for some medication. Be careful though as they are very addictive.

Welcome. AAS will probably not help you with your back pain. One of the sides is that you will want to bang everything, and that usually involves alot of back muscles.

not a good idea at all. focus on your rehab and get back to train when you feel good about it. don`t hurry things up. listen to your body. you're only 29
    cheers.
