Recently back from 10 year haitus

I've been out of the game for awhile, but some major injuries have been healed and looking to start building again.

I wanted to start off chemical free - fenugreek, yohimbe, etc.

I appreciate the wealth of information on this site!

I was out for six years with a back injury. Start light and strict and you will pick up steam in no time.

Definitely keep it natural until you rebuild your base, strengthen your tendons, etc.

Welcome, I started back 18 months ago after 10 years off, tough at first but the body seems to get right back into the groove and it feels great.

    Good luck!

Step 1 - Getting back to lifting
Step 2 - Getting over how weak I feel starting with such low weight

Injury resulted from lack of education

A little bit about my injury and why I signed up here:

I had been lifting weights with very slow and stagnant progression - no strengths gains or other benefits for the time I was putting in at the gym.

I would go to a local supplement store and buy products every once in awhile, but none of them seemed to do much. However, eventually I purchased a product (which I won't name, but I don't think it matters really because they went out of business) which was another testosterone booster. Well, this one worked. Within 2 months I had added 80 pounds to bench press, which I struggled with for over a year.

Because I bought the supplement for a local store, I did not think to research at all. My mistake. It turns out the supplement I was taking was effective because it actually contained steroids. I don't know which one, but I do know when I went back to the store, the owner told me the business had been forced to recall all of the product.

I was as big as I had ever been, but I continued going to the gym and didn't seem to lose any of the gains.

    BUT THEN...

Since I was ignorant, I did not know the effects the supplement would have on my tendons. I had spent all of my time strength training, and no time with anything else. I was bulking up to join a local Lacrosse team, but I had not spent anytime running or stretching.

My first day going out on sprints, it happened. I was running a 100 meter dash when, around the 50 meter mark, I felt a pop in my leg. At first, it didn't hurt; it just felt like a balloon had burst. Seconds later, the pain began and I realized very quickly that I did something bad to my hamstring. Several doctors visits later, I discovered I tore my hamstring.

I later discovered that steroids have a disproportionate impact on muscles versus tendons.

Now, many years later, I am here to educate myself and avoid making the same mistake again. Now that I am in my late thirties, I realize that science can help, but I need to be smarter about it.

Welcome, thanks for the share on the injury. Shows the importance of total conditioning that includes stretching etc.
